200 steel VBs will be made by RVNL-TMH JV and Titagarh wagons-BHEL JV.

And then, IR will award the tender of 100 aluminium VB trains to Alstom (after 10 years). Right now they're haggling to reduce the bid amount.
Russia wala ho jayga? I thought there were issues with that contract.

Eventually, yes, but first you need private players in the game. Pehle kitne the? I don't think I heard a single private player before this government. There was zero interest in the PPP model for EDFC.

Woh bhi ho jayga, but dismantling an existing system is not that straightforward. Railway unions are the strongest ones in this country. Much more than DPSU ones. At least now we have an alternative to introduce new technology, rather than remaining captive to these institutes.
I think we have come to a conclusion.

We both agreed that Privatisation/Corporatisatiom is the most lucrative idea.

Both aren't binary, Abhi toh nahi ho saketa. Look I look at it from one simple point of view, this is a huge loss-making entity, and if we corporatize it, the government revenue will not show this loss. The way this is set up there is no way that the corporation will also make a profit. Even this entity will be a leach on taxpayers. Air India was used by IAS for joyrides, flights delayed on a phone call. Not to mention the borrowing costs for this entity will go up. The whole railway expansion might tremendously slow down because of the havoc this creates.

May be I am wrong, but then I am not the finance minister, or railway minster :p

By rule of thumb 25 to 40% of any gormint institution is loss making purely because of its sarkari culture.
And what is up with saying gormint not showing this as loss? PSUs still register loss.

It won't come on budget, right now they have to tell that with budget. Losses of the company will be on the books of the company. One day you can privatize the whole thing, but corporatization without an intention to privatize just hides the rot.

Not sure, what's your issue with loss making PSUs. There are many out there. I'm not advocating to make railways a for-profit organisation.

Corporatisation will force railways to break up and change the structure. That itself will be huge improvement. We'll also get rid of the harami upsc babus (a major benefit).

Go to your nearest railway office and see the culture. Now, visit a PSU like ONGC or IOCL. You'll see the difference. Both are owned by govt but the work culture and quality of workforce is vastly different.

Delay toh hoga, ye confirmed hai.

First look into the Vande Metro concept at ICF stall in the ongoing Railway Exhibition.

OK. What we are seeing this most probably the MEMU train based on VB which was showcased by Mani sir team During VB launch. Looks like they changed the body shell to look like our Metro.

Looks better. Now question is where they are going to introduce. Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata still don't have plan to have full AC trains. So it is for KRide only?

Laptop stands, panoramic windows...: Check out Indian Railways new AC 1 coach concept design

Concept of Indian Railways AC 1st class

Synopsis
Indian Railways' Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala has unveiled a new concept design for AC 1 coaches which will be presented to Railway Board. The new design, which comes with laptop tables and entertainment screens, aims to provide comfort on par with business class on airplanes. In the new design, the aisle is located in the center of the coach, with compact coupes on both sides. This allows for more passengers to have access to windows.
Indian Railways Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala has recently unveiled new AC 1 coach concept design, which is aimed to offer comfort at par with business class of an aircraft. The concept design will be to the Railway Board. The concept is a big departure from the current design. In current AC 1 coaches, one side is occupied by the coupe (cubicle), while the other is the aisle. In the concept design, RCF has now moved the aisle to the center of the coach, with compact coupes of two berths each with panoramic windows of both sides, according to a report in Times of India.
The new AC 1 coach can accommodate 30 berths vs 24 at present.
“We have tried to make a design where the aisle is in the center. And we are putting the cabins on both sides so that the window look is available for more passengers. And both side windows are being provided for the passengers,” RCF Kapurthala GM Arun Kumar Jain told TOI.
In the new design, two people can sit in the AC 1st coupe during the daytime and at night, the seats can be converted to a berth. There will other facilities like laptop table, bottle holders and an entertainment screen for passengers.
Meanwhile, Indian Railways is gearing up for the launch of Vande Bharat sleeper coach trains which are expected to gradually replace Radhanis and other long distance trains. Apart from higher acceleration than the current Rajdhanis and thus lower travel time, passengers in the sleeper versions of Vande Bharat trains will experience less jerks and noise than the current long distance trains.

Earlier this month, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had shared images of the 'Concept train-Vande Bharat (sleeper version)' on social media, saying "Coming soon… early 2024."
Vande Bharat Express sleeper trains will be designed to achieve speeds of 160 km per hour and have 16 coaches with an approximate capacity to accommodate 887 passengers.
