That's weird. Previous sources claimed multiple times the two uncrewed test flight would take place in July and Dec 2024 respectively.

Maybe earlier plans, but last I checked uncrewed launches were scheduled for 2025 only.

HELSINKI — India plans to conduct a first uncrewed orbital test flight for its Gaganyaan human spaceflight program in July this year.

India will conduct three uncrewed test flights before a full crewed mission next year, S. Somanath, chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), told Asianet News Feb. 28.

The G1 mission, slated for July, will be the first test of the Gaganyaan Crew Module in space. It will launch on a human-rated LVM 3 rocket from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. Vyommitra, a humanoid robot, will be aboard the mission.

The mission will test the crew module in a 400-kilometer orbit, orbital maneuvers and its reentry and recovery.

The second uncrewed test flight, G2, will take place late in 2024. A third test flight, G3, and the full, crewed H1 Gaganyaan mission are scheduled for 2025, Somanath said.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ISRO unveiled four Indian astronaut-designates. The crew of the H1 mission will be drawn from the quartet. The four—Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla—are all Indian Air Force pilots.

There are 4 uncrewed Gaganyaan flights planned now instead of two earlier. 2 in 2024, 2 in 2025 and manned flight in 2026.

And since 1 LVM3 is already under manufacturing is February, it's unlikely that an uncrewed Gaganyaan will not fly this year unless there is a manufacturing mistake or blunder by some vendor.

Very disappointing. After many statements about conducting unmanned test flights of Gaganyaan this year( July was the repeated scheduled date) , those tests are going to be pushed back to next year! What is going on with ISRO in 2024? It's been a lousy year so far for launches. There should have been at least 4 by now!

Article itself is not clear if it is talking about G1 & G2 or TV-A1 and A2.

Is there a possibility that a lot of personnel who would otherwise be working on PSLV, SSLV and LVM3 launches( satellites) , are bring deputed to the Gaganyaan project? And that explains the paucity of launches this year so far? Or are there just some technical issues with the specific missions. Something must be amiss!

May be.
We just don't know.

Also, At least 1 LVM3 is under construction right now. So, at least one LVM3 launch by mid year will take place. Seems unlikely that G1 will be postponed.
