If it is indeed the Peerainians, then that ship needs to be converted into coral reef.

Though i am still wondering about the probability that the Iranians would be directly attacking an Indian flagged ship near India's eez (with an Indian city as destination.)
Iran under Mullah regime is no friend to India, just not an overt enemy.

What/where do you think will this lead to?
Nothing much IMO. Mullahs have probably already apologized privately and unlikely to repeat again. There's some geostrategic convergence between India and Iran such as Chabahar, INSTC, overland access to Central asia and access to Pakistan/Balochistan for funding their insurgencies, so unlikely to escalate further.

India is too conservative at times. Middle powers like Egypt, Turkey or Indonesia wouldn't have been so kind, let alone Cheen Ruski Muricans. Sometimes its good to put those RBU rockets to good use
No action would imply they can use this tactic to pressure India again in the future

1. was reported on fire after being hit by a projectile at around 0745 hours on December 23

2. naval maritime patrol aircraft overflew MT Chem Pluto at 1315 hours on December 23.

3. INS Mormugao established communication with the vessel at 1930 hours.

4. Chem Pluto had started moving at a speed of around 11 nautical miles per hour and will be joined by Indian Coast Guard Ship ICGS Vikram at around 10 p.m.

a proper analysis of our speed and reach should be done.

A good reference point would be how many ships PLAN had when they had a similar GDP to ours and how many they were producing in their shipyards.
China gdp around $3.6 trillion (2007) (Budget - $62 billion)

Subs - 6 nuc subs, 38 subs

Destroyers- 13

Frigates - 16

Corvettes - Introduced later after 2010 according to wiki

Amphibious vessels, landing crafts - 53

Mine sweepers - 29

Over 100 gunboats and Missile boats

India gdp - $3.6 trillion 2023 (Budget - $74billion)

Subs- 2 nuc subs, 16 subs

AC - 2

Destroyers - 12

Frigates - 12

Corvettes - 18

Amphibious vessels, landing crafts - 16

OPV - 10

Patrol Vessels - 19

Aux Ship - 4

Inflation would be a factor, China's real figure would be closer to ours.

After 2010 Chinese Navy induction sky rockets.

USA used 9/11 as an excuse to invade Iraq. I won't be surprised if this naval build-up will culminate in an invasion of Iran.

Question. Does other NATO allies ready to put the foot. Because we are talking about Iran which has backing from China and Russia at this time.

Also EU as a block in unchartered territories now. Industrial output in downward spiral due to Russian war.

US and it's NATO allies must have been negotiating the "war bounties". Economic downturn is a good time to start a war. It increases the industrial output and diverts the public attention.

Russia and China are too geographically distant from Iran to be of any consequence once the shooting begins. A positive outcome will be good for rebuilding the US' image as a status-quo superpower.
