Test 10,000 Km missile to force the West to listen

Let the general elections be completed. Let the stupid West find all kinds of faults. Let Modi /BJP cross 400+. then there is only one way to make the West sit down and listen and that is:

India test 10,000 km Inter Continental Ballistic Missile and say nothing.

Sooner than later, they will be around to shake hands with you after threats of sanctions etc. are thrown out of the window. If they wish withhold sale of MQ-9 then go ahead. India will withdraw from Red Sea piracy duty. Let the pirates attack the West’s ship and take their crews as captives. They will very soon come back with a lucrative offer.

Vajpayee did not wait for US permission for nuclear test in 1998/99. They were stunned with tests. Go ahead and stun them again.

China will reevaluate its threat posture towards India as soon as they know that all of China is under Indian threat. With current 5,000 miles missiles they think that some portions of China are safe.

All we got to tell Pakistan is whatever Vajpayee told them after they made a nuclear threat. What Vajpayee said was that any attack on India will result in Pakistanis not seeing tomorrow’s sun. All of them will be dead. Pakistan scaled back their threat posture.

It happened again when India trained 9 missiles at Pakistan when they were refusing to release the Indian MiG-21 pilot shot down over Pakistan. They relented and released the pilot within 24 hours.

…cheers.
Silly. China was under the threat of 1000s of nuclear weapons from both the US and USSR during the Cold War. Why do you think a few of yours make any difference? :)

Trade and mass manufacturing is our way of life not war so you can build as many you like!

You won't be able to make more than China.

But it is unlikely China will fight any war :)

So funny. What the hell is "overcapacity"? You need to stop growing so the West can charge a higher price? LOL

Chinese solars panels had been tariffed out of the American market since Obama and China still dominates the global solar market.

China doesn't sell a single EV in the US and China still dominates the global market :)

That old white lady thinks too highly of her race and market. Chinese people buys FAR more of every conceivable good than Americans except adult films :D

BYD, China’s biggest electric vehicle (EV) maker, reported first quarter 2024 sales fell 43% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, handing back the title of world’s biggest EV seller to Tesla after winning it last year.

The European Union has launched investigations into two groups of companies that include Chinese solar panel makers in the latest salvo against what it suspects is unfair competition from China’s vast manufacturing sector.

The European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, said Wednesday that it would assess whether foreign subsidies enabled the two consortia to submit “unduly” competitive offers when bidding for a contract to build and operate a solar park in Romania partly funded by EU money.

The two groups include subsidiaries of China’s LONGi Green Energy Technology Co. and Shanghai Electric Group Co., a state-owned enterprise.

Importers of solar power panels from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Croatia and Jordan to Turkey will be charged USD 25 per square meter. The measure targets equipment originating from China.
Unlike the European Union, which is still against protecting its solar industry with customs tariffs, Turkey rolled out antidumping duties for photovoltaic panels from China seven years ago. Moreover, it now started to charge USD 25 per square meter for the equipment shipped from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Croatia and Jordan.

While the first three are among the world’s top producers of solar panels, the measure is primarily aimed at reexports from China. The country controls a whopping 80% of the global market. In particular, the tariffs are charged for solar cells.

BRASILIA (Reuters) - A flood of electric vehicles from China boosted Brazilian car imports in the first quarter of 2024, ahead of rising import tariffs aimed at protecting local production.

Between January and March, passenger car imports rose 46.4% from the same period last year to $1.5 billion, according to data released on Thursday by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services.

Chinese vehicles alone accounted for around 40% of the total, with imports surging 450% from the same quarter of 2023.

"These purchases from China that are driving the increase in vehicle imports are mainly of electric and hybrid engines," said the ministry's statistics coordinator, Saulo Castro.

Import taxes for electric vehicles had been reduced to zero since 2015, but President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is restoring them this year to encourage development of the domestic auto industry.

Importation of 100% electric vehicles (EV) became subject to a 10% tax since January, which will increase to 18% in July and eventually reach 35% in July 2026.

Hybrid vehicles started the year with a 15% import tax, which will rise to 25% in July and reach 35% by July 2026.

It is natural for importers to ramp up vehicle imports ahead of a tax increase, said the ministry's statistics director, Herlon Brandao.

"This tariff will reach 35% and industries are also setting up in Brazil, so this growth will eventually slow down given this scenario," he added.

Marcelo de Godoy, head of the vehicle importers association Abeifa, flagged growing EV appetite in Latin America's largest economy, in both general and premium segments.

"The entry of the Chinese helps to meet this demand," he told Reuters.

Chinese automakers BYD and GWM have announced a series of investments for local electric car production since last year.

According to the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE), sales of electrified cars in Brazil rose 145% in the first quarter compared to the same period the previous year, to 36,090.

BYD led the pack (14,939), followed by GWM (5,735) and Toyota (5,049).

LEUVEN, Belgium (Reuters) - The United States and the European Union committed to extend by three years their cooperation on identifying disruptions in the semiconductor sector, with a particular emphasis on mainstream "legacy" chips from China.

The two sides concluded a two-day session of their Trade and Technology Council on Friday with a l2-page joint statement on the meeting's outcomes.

It said the two partners would share market intelligence about "non-market" policies and practices, which they argue prevail in China, and consult on planned action to address distortions on the global supply chain.

European Commission Vice President Margrethe Vestager, who oversees EU policy on technology, said the EU and U.S. were taking "the next steps" regarding legacy semiconductors.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo told a news conference that China was producing some 60% of legacy chips, found in cars, household appliances and medical devices, and would continue to do so in the coming years.

"And we know there's a massive subsidisation of that industry on behalf of the Chinese government which could lead to huge market distortion. And so that's why we're focused on it," she said.

The Commerce Department has already launched a survey to assess market distortion, she said, adding that the EU would do a similar exercise soon, with the two set to share their results.

The two partners have also committed to join forces in research to find alternatives to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in chips. The "forever chemicals" do not readily break down and studies show they can harm human health.

More and more car companies are using China as an export hub to the rest of the world:

PSA group sold 600,000 car annually 6 yrs ago, now only 40,000 per yr. They still have two facotories with 600,000 capabilities.

Heard from industry, they will sell one factory to Chinese brand, and other facotory will still make the Citroen and Peugeot brands for exporting to EU and other nations, by using the super good chinese auto supply chains.

There are quite a few American, European, Korean and Japanese firms that used to make a lot of ICE cars for China's domestic market that will need to do something with those factories. LOL

These are sunk cost assets with better supply chains than anywhere else in the world. Building anywhere else means they need to spend new money AND end up with a far less efficient supply chain :D

Had an interesting discussion in another forum. Someone posted this in a thread on EVs and ICE autos:
IMG_2640.jpeg

That was the Falaise Gap in 1944 and all of those dead horses belonged to the German Wehrmacht, the most mechanized force in Europe and possibly the world at the time.

An idiot back then would say "See? Horses will always be with us as a major means of transportation. Autos with their motors that break down, blow up and run out of oil would never replace the horse if the German Army is still using them!"

The same kind of idiots are saying this about EVs today. They talk about blowing up, well fire are actually far less prevalent in EVs than gas cars. Of course, the horse blows up far less than an ICE vehicle :D

They talk about range and having to recharge. When the Model T came out in 1908 gas stations were far less available than charging stations are today. How is the auto going to compete with horse when it is running out of fuel all the time? :D

China is leading the EVs revolution but just like the German Army still using horses three decades after the Model T the combustion engine vehicle will labor on. But like the horse in 1944, its best days had passed :)

EV is not enemy of ICE car.

When people talking about EV in China, they infact refer to Pure EV + Plugin Hybrid EV (PHEV).

Most popular EVs sold by BYD are actually PHEV. When people for urban transportation, they spent 0 RMB on gasoline, since the small battery is enough for 100KM.

When they go inter cities, the IC engine works on perfect condition to charge it, made it would drive 1000km each time, with only 3-4L per 100km.

China still buys more ICE (and high end ICE -- check out BMW, Mercedes, etc. sales!) than any country in the world. It also exports more ICE than EVs in becoming the world top exporters.

But foreign car companies are definitely losing China's market at an very fast rate. They are simply not geared up for the transition to EVs including Plug-in Hybrids because they are used to making so much money from legacy ICE.

Charging stations and steady advancement and price drops from CATL, BYD and other Chinese battery companies will reach a tipping point in China for EVs to overwhelm ICE.

But just like cars overwhelming two-wheelers in China, ICE will still be exported from China. Just like motorcycles. China still dominates motorcycle exports despite the Chinese population switching en-masse to four-wheelers.
