hopefully something concrete comes off this.
IT/ED/CBI "actions" have become more of "harassment" than any "law enforcement" these days of very few reaching their logical end in court rooms.
apparently this has happened before, during ABV and MMS period.
I don’t think we should assume that BBC’s motivations are so fragile that they get spooked by just one IT survey.
it’s their bosses at their foreign office that needs to be talked to, not these minions in branch offices.

Even I do not rule out US or EU for that matter or i will start believing that Indian hand has become so heavy that US did not wanted to dare this time around.
Well, Indian hand this time was heavy enough to stand away from Ukraine and still avoided any official criticism from US given its value against China.

Sidelining Pakistan US relations isn't a bigger deal against it.

BBC and India

BBC with its flawed independence & honesty is overdue for a hair cut and India is about to give it to it. Its independence is faulty. It is meant to embarrass governments without any rhyme or reason. That includes the BBC documentary on elected leader Modi on the 2002 Gujarat riots. This matter was examined by the Indian Supreme Court and buried as a faulty charge with no basis. Hence why did BBC decide to open it?

I quote a piece from the FirstPost

‘A mixture of many elements abroad are behind this campaign: A colonial mindset that still believes in the right to monitor India’s internal affairs; long-standing political biases that continue to colour views on India’s internal and external affairs; local pro-Pakistan lobbies in the UK using their electoral clout in several marginal constituencies to draw attention to Kashmir, human rights issues, etc; pro-Khalistani lobbies that benefit from political clout, collusions from elements in the bureaucracy and the intelligence agencies to further their separatist agenda.’

Now that the issue of BBC honesty has been opened, let's look at it in a little more detail. Is the BBC honest enough to take a closer look at the wretched battle between two princes and the British royal family? One of them is going to be the future king hence the two brothers fist fight is worth examining in a documentary.

The BBC has been in Pakistan for as long as they have been in India. Pakistan went from worst to worst and it is now on the brink of bankruptcy. So that's something the BBC should look at as a critical documentary. No editorial analysis has been done on this issue. And also, what about a grave programming error which Google made in re-inventing itself with Artificial Intelligence. They lost $100 billion in just the first two days. Shouldn't an independent-minded BBC examine the loss of this shareholder?

As the author of the FirstPost said earlier, this is the colonial mentality and longstanding political prejudices, all encouraged by the British elite are to blame. They hate independent minded Modi, who has accelerated Indian growth, GDP to exceed the British GDP and will double it in 5/7 years. That is not sitting well with the British elite. They want him to be removed by hook or crook. This time the hook and crook is the BBC.

With regard to the BBC, the financial structure should be reviewed. They borrowed money from China to finance themselves and fund Modi type documentary etc.

CBDT statement on IT surveys in BBC -
=====
The survey operation has resulted in unearthing of crucial evidences by way of statement of employees, digital evidences and documents which will be further examined in due course. It is pertinent to state that statements of only those employees were recorded whose role was crucial including those connected to, primarily, finance, content development and other production related functions. Even though the Department exercised due care to record statements of only key personnel, it was observed that dilatory tactics were employed including in the context of producing documents/agreements sought. Despite such stance of the group, the survey operation was conducted in a manner SO as to facilitate continued regular media/channel activity.

A survey action under section 133A of the Income- tax Act, 1961 (the Act) was carried out at the business premises of group entities of a prominent international Media Company at Delhi and Mumbai. The group is engaged in the business of development of content in English, Hindi and various other Indian languages; advertisement sales and market support services, etc.

The survey revealed that despite substantial consumption of content in various Indian languages (apart from English), the income/profits shown by various group entities is not commensurate with the scale of operations in India. During the course of the survey, the Department gathered several evidences pertaining to the operation of the organization which indicate that tax has not been paid on certain remittances which have not been disclosed as income in India by the foreign entities of the group.

The survey operations also revealed that services of seconded employees have been utilised for which reimbursement has been made by the Indian entity to the foreign entity concerned. Such remittance was also liable to be subject to withholding tax which has not been done. Further, the survey has also thrown up several discrepancies and inconsistencies with regard to Transfer Pricing documentation. Such discrepancies relate to level of relevant Function, Asset and Risk (FAR) analysis, incorrect use of comparables which are applicable to determine the correct Arms Length Price (ALP) and inadequate revenue apportionment, among others.
