SL is firing n unarmed fishermen, who are fishing, just to have their wages and daily living. SL Navy will never mess with IN or Indian Coast Guards.
We can give fitting reply to SN but they will cry like babies, better for us to use diplomatic channel evfrctively.

It is time , we should give them clear warning. A single firing incident will invite capsizing all of their boats in that region. We can't keep taking this shit for ever. As strong massage has to given but not by lip service.

This is ideal opportunity to test some of our brahmos, if they do not mend their ways. Bramhos will become battle proven, hence more export opportunity.

Bramhos will be too costly, I think we are still using older styx on some of our warships and if we are planning to retire them then lets release them all against SL naval ships.....2 jobs in 1 stone....bye bye to SL navy and happy send off for styx....just joking....

personally I feel we should patrol areas with the help of coast guards and stop our fishing boats if by mistake they are crossing into SL waters....

If you read past news, you will find that 200 TN fishermen fishing, a SL navy came and attacked, etc. Unarmed fishermen are no match to guns

It is time for the TN fishermen to secretly reequip their boats and have a couple of them fitted with machine guns and RPGs, act as fishing boats but in actuality act as cordon sanitaire and give it back right and proper.

Not a good idea. Even CM Karaunanidhi threatened to do it.

Fishermen are no match to a trained, armed navy ship. SL will justify the massacre of the fishermen saying they shot at us.

It is job of Indian coastguard and navy to protect us. Why are the refdusing to do it?

Srilankan navy attacked Indian Fisher man

Karaikal: Four fishermen from Puducherry have been injured in an alleged attack by Sri Lankan Coast Guard personnel, who, they say, threw chilly powder in their eyes, beat them up and dumped their equipment, worth fifteen lakh rupees in the sea.

Five Karaikal-based fishermen had ventured into the sea on March 2 in a fibreglass boat and were fishing off the Kodiakarai coast last night, when they were allegedly attacked by the Lankan personnel. They said the Lankans came up in white boats, surrounded them and then attacked.

"They confiscated our Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment, walkie-talkie and Echo sounder. They have also cut all our nets. There's nothing in our boats and we've lost equipment worth fifteen lakh rupees," said Mr Chandrakumar, one of the injured fisherman.

One fisherman managed to escape unhurt as he hid near the boat's engines, he said. They returned to shore today and have been admitted to the Karaikal General Hospital.

The attack comes a day after a 40-year-old fisherman from Karaikal was injured when Lankan Navy personnel allegedly fired at his fishing boat. The Lankan Navy had also recently arrested 16 Indian fishermen and charged them with trespassing into Lankan waters.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa wrote to the Prime Minister yesterday saying these incidents should be viewed as an "indirect attempt to intimidate India and browbeat it into not raising its voice" against Sri Lanka on the Tamil issue at the international fora, which is highly unacceptable.

All political parties in Tamil Nadu, including Ms Jayalalithaa's rival the DMK, which is an ally of the ruling Congress, have been bringing pressure on the Union Government to vote against Sri Lanka on a resolution expected to be moved by the United States when the top human rights body of the UN, the UNHRC, meets next week in Geneva. The resolution will focus on alleged war crimes by Sri Lankan defence forces as they defeated the Tamil Tiger rebels after a lengthy civil war in 2009.

so what if they have intruded or not,the whole IOR belongs to India and we have got every right to go fishing anywhere in this region!the bloody Lankans are literally crossing their limits,they don't know yet about what's waiting for them in the near future.they are killing our countrymen mercilessly,so when we'll retaliate don't expect us to show any mercy on them as they are no match for even our police forces let alone the Armed forces of India!if they want a war we'll give them one!

need to improve coastal guard provision using quick boats and state governments should be given power to confront rogue elements like ajmal kasab and srilankan government. Maybe this could be possible by having autonomous state goverment yielding state governments more power.
