It shows how the illegal cash holders are afraid right now. Fools. People can see burnt rupees. They should have dug them underground.
These maybe fake currency also. Since no one is accepting Rs500 & Rs1000 notes and bank employees will find out immediately if its fake and so won't be accepted in banks plus fear of being reported by bank employees the only way to get rid off fakes is by burning to finish of evidence.

Holders of real currency will not give up so easily and will try their best to get it exchanged by hook or by crook. So most probably these are fakes.

Got the new 2k notes.

A lot shorter in length&height compared to 1k notes.
Length little over(~1cm) a 100 Rs note.
Height matches the US 100$ bills.
Thinner paper.

Now they will fit perfectly in my wallet. :biggrin2:

Pakistan won't be able to copy new notes: Intelligence agencies

  • Intelligence agencies said the security features in the new Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes make them impossible to replicate
  • The govt had been informed of a mint in Peshawar where only fake Indian currency notes are printed
  • Every year, Pak pushes Rs 70 crore worth of fake currency into the Indian economy
Intelligence agencies vetted the new denominations of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes asserting that its security features will be next to impossible to replicate for Pakistan and organised criminal networks for some time to come.

A top government official without going into the details, told TOI that external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing, Intelligence Bureau and the DRI examined the features on the notes being secretly printed for the past six months. The official refused to reveal the number of security features on the notes but said they were difficult to forge.

The intelligence community had earlier informed the government and RBI that Pakistan had a dedicated mint in Peshawar where only fake Indian currency notes, mostly in Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination, were being printed.

Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI, which oversees the mint, uses organised networks including those run by its clients like Dawood Ibrahim, LeT, besides international criminal networks to push fake currency into India.

In a report to government and RBI, intelligence agencies had claimed a few years ago that Pakistan machinery had achieved "zero-error counterfeit capability" in printing fake Indian notes.

According to an estimate, Rs 70 crore worth FICN is pushed every year by Pakistan into the Indian economy, which was used as 'terror fund' and to spearhead disturbances.

MoS for home, Kiren Rijiju, said the government move would lead to closure of fake currency "press" in Pakistan.

Govt's economic terrorism, says PIL ::

A PIL has been filed in the SC challenging the Modi government's announcement on demonetisation of high denomination notes+ of Rs 1,000 and 500. "The PM's announcement has come to thwart away the black money+ , fake currency and terrorism; but at the same time, this economic crisis created at the cost of lives of 1.25 billion Indians, cannot be termed less than 'economic terrorism' in the lives of aam aadmi," the petition said.

Advocates move Bombay high court ::

Two advocates approached Bombay HC on Wednesday to take suo motu cognisance of the ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. Advocates Jamshed Mistry and Jabbar Shaikh claimed the decision was not legally valid. The judge told the advocates to take up the issue when the court resumes after Diwali vacation. "The last time government banned high value notes in 1978, it came out with an ordinance and ... an Act," said Mistry.

What if the judges and advocates themselves have black money hoarded in their houses.:hmm::lawl:

My Bank didn't get the new 500 notes or maybe they went out of stock.

Do not rush. 50 days is a lot of time. No point in standing 2-3 hours.

Plastic / polymer notes are thin but don't get easily torn, will be stretchy in feel unlike stiff paper. They do have better rub count therefore last long , you won't need plastic bag to pack like many people use during rainy season as polymer is waterproof. :biggrin2:

3. Portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre
4. Micro letters ‘RBI’ and ‘2000’ on the left side of the banknote

More digging; RBI introduced 10 rs polymer note few years back as pilot project..

Those who call notes thin = poor quality and it may get torn in washing Machines are naive.

Afaik all these security features are already present in current notes.
What's new??

I heard something about tracking, and then heard that it was just a rumor.

Then that's good, I didn't say that, my friend did. I think if its polymer it would be better suited to Washing Machines than an average 100 rs note that we use.
