500,1000 Rs Note no longer legal tender!!

Went to local State bank branch today, they said they didn't get the money (new 500s and 200s) yet.

Then went to Standard Charter for some monies. It was there, but the Q was from 2nd floor all the way to main road.

Yup I too got token number 386 while token number 25 was being processed in SBI, guess that it might take 2 more hours for my turn to come.

Someone filed petition on change.org a year ago.

Govt Should stop printing Rs. 1000/500 Notes. Also Change the print and format of 500 & 1000 notes. Ask the money holders to deposit the notes of 500 & 1000 in there bank account as new notes will be issued in short period of time and old notes of 500 & 1000 will be not counted as currency from the given date. From this news all the person who are holding the black money or duplicate note will deposit money in there bank accounts and person doing the business of duplicate notes automatically stopped.

Removal of higher currency denominations will immediately stop a lot of national problems which include :

1 Black Money

2 Corruption

3 Fake currency

4 Terrorism

There is a video on youtube that dates back to 7 November and it showed that shortly GOI will introduce 2000 INR notes, but it was oblivious of the banning of older notes.

Here it is, so I guess that it was already known that 2000 INR bill is gonna be introduced but it wasn't known that GOI will in a shoking move ban old 500 and 1000 bills and replace them with newer 500 and 2000. It tells us one more thing........GOI is good at keeping secrets secret.

Went to local SBI bank. Withdrew Rs10000 through cheque. Took about 15 mins. New 2000 given. Will deposit 25000 rs cash in hand a few days later when the rush gets lower.

There ain't no tokens here; can't enter the bank to get token, coz people everywhere at entrance of bank.

Anyway isn't it strange that State bank being a govt. bank didn't get the monies but Standard Charter, a foreign bank, got the monies before.

Edit: @TheSeeker got monies from SBI, so it is not for all branches.

There ain't no tokens here; can't enter the bank to get token, coz people everywhere at entrance of bank.

Well here in my Branch, we get tokens for transaction though, its good because its organised. So I'd know that when my turn would come.

Well I too had to battle my way inside, crossing level by level and breaking smashing and giving pain and then I got to the Token counter where I had to beat the boss in order to get the Token.

Oh, there are token machines here too.
But as I said the Q goes from bank to 2nd floor to ground floor all the way to the main road.
So nobody's (including bank people) really bothered with tokens.
