Pakistan must ensure its soil is not used for terror activities: US

US Central Command (CENTCOM) commander General Joseph Votel conveyed this to Islamabad during a visit last week. This was his third visit to Pakistan as commander.

During the visit, he called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, defence minister Khurram Dastgir, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Hayat and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

"In his discussions with Pakistani leaders, he emphasised that all parties must work to ensure that Pakistani soil is not used to plan or conduct terrorist attacks against its neighbours," the US Embassy here said in a statement.

Pakistan has rejected BRICS declaration even though they weren't named in declaration, even after assurance from Chinese spokesperson. This must have ruffled some diplomatic fathers of certain "friend." First US and now BRICS. If Pakistan continues in this path of denial then it would be difficult for China to protect them. It could become another DPRK like international pariah or a sanctioned state.

The idea of using terror for political gain was flawed from beginning. CIA learned this the hard way but for some reason Pakistan has failed to see glaring examples in front of them. Back in 70's and 80's things were different. Terrorism was not a big international issue so their acts were mostly went under international radar but now things have changed. Every nation in the world has effected by islamic terror to some extant. In this day and age continuation of a failed 70's tactic is nothing short of disaster and that too when the whole world is is calling you out.

If Pakistan thinks they will complete any strategic goals from state sponsored terror then they are living seriously in denial. The way to handle Kashmir is making peace with India and strengthen their moral stand in the world. The way to handle Afghanistan is by giving them access to Indian market and treating them on equal ground. What Pakistan is currently doing is madness. At this point they are asking for global isolation and if they continue down the rabbit hole they may even get one.

Paki government has ordered the shut down it's of largest circulated Urdu daily of Rawlakot in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) Daily Mujadala for showing it the mirror on illegal occupation. The newspaper had conducted a poll asking people if they wanted to continue living under the under the forced occupation of Pakistan. Over 73% of the respondents said that they want independence from the illegal occupation of Pakistan. The decision appears to have triggered an uproar among extremist radical forces, Pakistan Army, and local administration as they have now shut it down. Republic TV’s Aditya Raj Kaul spoke to Haris Qadeer, Chief Editor of Daily Mujadala. On being questioned about what people said about ‘Azadi’, the journalist said, “we had two questions: one question was about the position of Kashmir in 1948 if people want it restored. Maximum people agreed. 73% said we are Kashmiris and would want independence from Pakistan.” He added that “they took action against me. Initially, they sent me notices and tried to scare me. I did not honour the notices. The district magistrate and Kashmir council then sent notices to take action against me. Offices have been sealed.” The opinion in the PoK Survey conducted by Urdu daily was collected through 10,000 survey forms over 5-years, through field work. The respondents were merely asked to rate PoK administration and determine if they want independence from Pakistan. Furthermore, the same survey was distributed evenly across PoK.

Islamabad: China and Russia have assured Pakistan at the diplomatic level that they would veto any US move in the United Nations to slap economic sanctions on Islamabad over failure to eliminate terror safe havens, according to a media report on Wednesday.

The ties between Pakistan and the US deteriorated after US president Donald Trump in August criticised Islamabad for providing safe havens to terrorists.

Pakistan's newspaper The Express Tribune and its sister publication Daily Express reported that the US has hinted at imposing sanctions on Pakistani officials allegedly having links with militants.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had warned on Monday that any targeted sanctions against Pakistani officials would not help in US counter-terrorism efforts.

The Express Tribune reported that Pakistan has been in contact with two veto-wielding powers – China and Russia – who have opposed the American policy of putting undue pressure on Pakistan.

The two key world players have assured Islamabad of every possible support at all forums, it said.

Pakistan would also approach other Western nations, especially France and the United Kingdom, to drive home its viewpoint, according to report.

Islamabad-based diplomatic sources told Daily Express that foreign policy wizards, security officials and top government functionaries have been brainstorming to chart out new policy vis-a-vis Washington.

It has been decided that Pakistan would phase out its dependence on the United States. And high-level contacts with Washington would be restored only after the Trump administration acquiesced to assuage Pakistan’s legitimate concerns on the new US strategy for Afghanistan and beyond.

There has been no top level contact between Trump's aides and Pakistani officials since the inauguration of the new US strategy, though US ambassador David Hale has met senior Pakistani civil and military leaders in an attempt to soothe frayed tempers in Islamabad.

Pakistan has started approaching key international and regional players to garner their support in the wake of scathing criticism from president Trump. In this context, foreign minister Khawaja Asif has already launched a diplomatic offensive to garner support for Pakistan. He travelled to China, Iran and Turkey this week.

LOL Source Based news and we all know how true they are if you follow Pak media closely there was huge noise when trump made the statement while Russian Ambassador to AFG criticised Trumps strategy nobody supported Pakistan but Paki media thought that Russia has supported them and leaders of parliament including foreign minister said that we will go to russia but after the Joint BRICS statement Pakistan foreign minister visited China Iran and Turkey but not Russia until now and looks unlikely he is going to visit Russia
