China has developed a new Titanium-Aluminum-Niobium superalloy for jet engines. It can withstand an additional higher temperature of 150-200 degrees Celsius.

The Chinese superalloy mixture is Ti-45Al-8Nb. This means it is comprised of 45% aluminum, 8% niobium, and the rest is titanium.

The Chinese superalloy is different from GE's titanium superalloy.

"General Electric development of the Titanium alloy Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb (Alloy 4822) was a critical technology for the GEnx engine used in the Boeing 787. Alloy 4822 was hailed as a success in the development of aircraft engine materials as it reduces the weight of an aircraft engine by 200 pounds, fuel consumption by 20% and discharge of NOx by 80% and significantly lowered engine noise."

By the way, notice the nomenclature of GE's 4822 alloy. It follows the percentage of metals other than titanium. 48% aluminum, 2% chromium, and 2% niobium. Hence, the name of Alloy 4822.

However, you should be aware that these are only the percentages of the main elements in the superalloy. The trace elements in the superalloy are a trade secret. Also, the manufacturing process is a trade secret. The temperature, pressure, atmospheric composition, mixture, and order of elemental addition are all secrets. Further, the cooling process and crystal formation are proprietary. Heat and possible cryogenic treatment are also important in forging the final superalloy.

Now, you have to machine the final superalloy. This is another difficult process.
