Do you have that paper? I would be curious to see this. AFAIK, till Greece competition, armor values where not revealed to other countries... Looks good for the depth. The height is a little bit shocking but I think it's due to the fact that the lower plates of the hull are not...

People always consider the Leclerc as a continuity with the other tanks built in France. Yet it's the first real heavy tank mass produced by french military industry. The misty fog around that tank comes from the huge amount of d**kheads that spread out a s**tload of rumors about it. In french...

Honnestly I wouldn't use that drawing. It is anything but proportionned. For S1, you just remove the little plate over the commander front module.

Militarysta, if you want to gain in credibility, you should avoid using the "AMX-56" name. It's been invented by trolls or stupid ass guys... It's original name is "AMX Leclerc" when all arsenals where seperated. When GIAT was created, the name became simply "char Leclerc" (Leclerc MBT). With...

I'm coming! 1) The thing that you don't figure out is that the autoloader is only 22 rounds just because it is flat. The two-third armor is just two-third compaired to the crew compartment height. It is 100% the height of the autoloader. Above the autoloader, you got ammunitions for coax...

Why not. But it just increase the complexity of the overall, therefor the price and the risk to increase the weight of the components. After all it's just common sens not to rotate the autoloader while having the ramming mechanism out.

Well, it's in emergency mode, so there is no control by electronical components, it's just pure actuation. The Leclerc got something like 4 modes wich correspond to different levels of computer controls. Normal mode is the most controlled and emergency isn't controlled at all.

Can't tell... From what I heard some incidents where claimed to be caused by the tank. In fact there had been bad manipulations as well. By exemple a gunner manipulated the autoloader in emergency mode. He broke the ramming device by rotating the ammunitions while it was out. In the end he...

I can't remember what PR stands for. Could you give me a hint? I think I see what you're talking about. In fact there had been a problem of short circuit in some electronical box linked to the FCS. That made some serious troubles. By exemple, there was some turret movements against the user's...

Are you refering to the first S2? If so, I manage to gather some informations about that. Till the first S2 tanks, the Leclerc had a temperature threshold too low for it's turret motorisation. So every time the turret was stabilised for too long in the desert, the tank itself reduced the...

Two-men turret concept. The intention is to reduce the frontal surface, without loosing gun depression. Basically the central part of the turret is a regular turret height. Since there is no tandem positionning, the two guys are set lower (gunner a little more than the commander), their roofs...

Alright let's get started! The armor modules are composite, the tip of the glacis got some. See the picture brought up by LaVic. Hmmm, could you please give me some hints about the thinner armor protection of séries 1? AFAIK, the LOS thickness haven't changed. Just a mudguard on the tip...
