    AH-64E Apache attack helicopter

What does that even mean? LCH is specifically designed to fight in the highest altitudes. LCH is the only attack helicopter in the world that has been tested to land at >14,000ft with a weapons load weight class is not important. Role is

    AH-64E Apache attack helicopter

Americans put a gun to Indian leadership and made them sign these deals? Same tactics made them launch hunts for global bids worth 10s if billions whilst they invest peanuts in indigenous projects. Oh wait. I blame the Russians for ripping off india but Americans are just fulfilling...

    AH-64E Apache attack helicopter

For such roles the Rudra makes far more sense. And you don’t deploy attack/assault helicopters from aircraft carriers. Until India has a formal maritime strike force along the lines of USMC, no such assets are needed. LHDs should be put on the back burner until such a force is raised. This...

    AH-64E Apache attack helicopter

39 will come but it’s a question of when. Currently the MOD is pursuing 6 for the Army as part of the follow on clause of the original Apache deal for IAF. As far as I know this order for 6 still hasn’t been placed and thus production for those 6 hasn’t commenced. Maybe they’ll come by 2023...

    AH-64E Apache attack helicopter

They will have Apache for the heavy role. Besides I’m sure in a few years HAL will be working on a LCH MK.2 which will be heavier, at least 7-9 tons.

    AH-64E Apache attack helicopter

For the price of 40 Apaches you could get >200 LCHs. Are 40 Apaches more useful than 200 LCH? Not at all. Apaches will be useful as force multipliers only but they shouldn’t be ordered in lieu of more LCH. 22 Apaches for IAF 39-50 for IA is plenty. IA needs to Focus on getting 100++ LCH.

    AH-64E Apache attack helicopter

This debate is over like it or not. Both the IAF and Army will have their own attack helo fleets made up of LCHs, Rudras and Apaches. 22 Apaches for IAF and 39 for the army. + the Apache and Chinook look AMAZING in Tipnis grey IMHO

    AH-64E Apache attack helicopter

Chinooks are FAR more necessary than Apaches IMHO has india already has a close enough substitute (LCH/Rudra) but the Chinook will bring a completely unique capability to India. IAF could easily use 50-60 Chinooks. Requirements are vast, especially for the east. Second order for Apaches has...

    AH-64E Apache attack helicopter

Exactly, Chinook is bringing a capability that India won’t have by any other source for a long time. And whilst Apaches/attack helicopters will only ever be useful during actual conflicts, the Chinook will be useful every single day across the country as a utility transport.

    AH-64E Apache attack helicopter

They have no right to dictate how India uses them. March 2019 Apaches and Chinooks will come. Interesting that there hasn’t been much talk so far of ordering more Chinooks but more Apaches are being optioned. Chinook is perhaps just as much of a game changer for India, we need as many as we...
