There is a way around it.. The fission engine would ignite only after the ship reaches orbit.. Or you assemble the ship in orbit or the moon.. These ships would not enter the earth's atmosphere..

Well.. ISRO has confirmed that the rover has made it to the moon's surface.. But my guess is, ISRO wants to capture the tread mark with ISRO emblem and Ashoka lion, and needs to maneuver the rover to the right point near the camera with the right illumination.. just a guess..

So..the mission duration is for 14 days.. But, what happens after a month, when the SUN rises again.. Will batteries of Lander and rover charge again, and will they be activated again..

Chandrayaan is in a 25*134 km orbit.. Although, would be interesting to know what security aspects he is pointing to, w.r.t not disclosing the final orbit beforehand..

One upmanship with India, might be one of the reasons, as equipment might not have been rigoursly tested, before the rushed launch..

isro had announced it to be around 2 am ist 20th August.. and it happened around the same time..

Better not lower the apolune, of Chandrayaan 3.. until the Russians are done with their LUNA-CY landings.. Wouldn't put it beyond Russia to crash into Chandrayaan in orbit, if they conclude their landing will fail..

Looks like Russia badly wants to be the first country to land near the south pole.. One wonders whether the science instruments are properly tested and caliberated..

Chandrayaan 2 orbiter is still functioning and would be used by CH3 Lander.. LUNA 25 will directly beam and receive signals from earth..? Looks like there is no orbiter for Luna 25..
