Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

Glory cannot be based on a fictionalised story of young Bharata counting the teeth of the lion, we have plenty of non fiction available. Bharata may have leant his name to this land and spawned an extraordinary dynasty but nothing was ever known of the king himself.

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

Good point. The Russians have these engagements with Pakistan for only one reason, to warn India and make us squirm. Many here are saying the Americans are transactional, the Russians have them beat. Putin is very clear headed that countries don’t have friends, only interests. Our “friendship”...

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

For once, Modi will be happy with the ultra liberal guys who decided to write a letter of some sort. TV channels are talking about that and the Trump matter has become old news....:biggrin2:

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

To his credit, he was the one to destroy the Hindu’s forgeries on the Rafale deal. Masterful that was.

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

Spot on. Nobody in India is agitated about this, Modi should do what he’s doing and not let this become bigger. The flip side to this is that back channel talks with Pakistan are more likely to dry up because of the irritation caused.

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

Maybe because the PM does not want to set a precedent of clarifying such remarks. Trump could do a dozen tweets a day and Modi may end up clarifying from morning to night.

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

Actually, many Indian leaders including India have asked for the US to help with respect to Pakistan, sometimes specifically with regard to happenings in Kashmir. That’s something that possibly happened even in February. Abhijit Iyer is a bit of a provocateur and commonly uses language of the...

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

Regardless of disagreement with his opinion, he has an interesting take on many matters including this and dismissing him is not warranted. He’s hardly anti-Modi, many of us have problems with specifics of Modi’s policies on many matters. I think he’s overreading on this issue but who really...

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

Unless there’s something weird going on that we don’t know and Modi is in on it, you are absolutely right. Who on earth is going to be willing to say almost anything on sensitive issues with this chap?

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

That’s perfectly fine, we too have a similar relationship with the US, vi’s a cis Pakistan and China. It’s not like we give a damn about any of their interests otherwise.

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

Actually that’s not a reading supported by facts. US desires closeness in the relationship as much as India, where there is a dispute is on the trade deficit. That can and should be worked on and managed. We will always have issues to deal with but they need not be the defining points of the...

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

There was an article in the economic times which said that both sides have looked at the record and found no mention of any such thing. Attempting to publicly humiliate Trump (not sure you can ever do that...) hardly smacks of sensible diplomacy. The US state department has already attempted...

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

why embarrass? Pissing into the wind that....Point has been made by the EAM , its where that should remain. We dont need Trump doubling down on his nonsense because of an overreaction from here.

Trump Uses the K-word, Includes Bajwa in Talks with Imran

Oh boy! Overreaction much,,,? By tomorrow, Trump would have likely forgotten Kashmir and Imran Khan. There’s nothing in the official statement, we should just let it go as one of those Trump moments. Shooting ourselves in the foot won’t help any.
