Iirc they have already ramped up production to 3 rafale per month (36 annually). With more orders they can probably take it to 4 per month for few years. But they can always manage by putting French orders on hold while they deliver export orders first.

3 years from the deal signing. Dassault can ramp up production for exports or alternatively it can priorities Indian orders over french airforce orders.

Assembly line for rafale is a stupid idea. It only increase the cost of jets to more than double . It is smarter to buy 36 more rafale directly from France and invest similar amount into AMCA infrastructure to infuse latest technologies. Few years later buy final batch of rafale with 36 more...

Medium fighter jet requirement was originally for 126 Mirage jets. Even in 2006 original mmrca competition IAF invited both f16 and gripen to be part of it. To be honest whole medium high category is nonsense what matters is swing role capabilities for which aircraft must be capable of...

Mk2 will have 70% of the payload of rafale and similar range to rafale on internal fuel. It's certainly in medium category.

Seems legit. Engine should be the only important major import also ejection seat . By value they should be under 15-20% .

It's called Indian standard time . Anyway be glad that thread is still open and running otherwise an one point of time entre lca program was going to be ended with just 40 foc jets. Then parrikar pushed for mk1a and now rajnath has given money for mk2 / mwf development at last .

I think GOI is aware and only playing along. After all no RFP has been issues for MRFA and if we listen to like of PKS then no RFP will be issued either. Goi is dragging IAF along until mwf starts production. I may be wrong though but as I said before modi who is shouting atma-nirbhar from...

There is an ancient saying if you need a mango 🥭 you don't thinks about building a mango. You think about nurturing a mango tree. Mango will come automatically. Similarly we need ecosystem and infrastructure to master all engine related tech not just for aerospace but for every sector. We need...

114 mrfa will cost at least 25 billion USD. And that's a conservative figure. IAF may want is so badly but I just don't see how after crying atma-nirbhar everyday modi will go on and sign a 25billion usd check to Dassault. The sheer optics will look disastrous . Opposition will laugh at...

Look at the crash rate of those fighters. Besides that was era of turbojets and all engines were trash.

Russian are outlier because they don't have a reliable singel engine. That's why j10 and jf17 have such absymal availablity rates and keep crashing.

Yes this is what meant by development cum production. Once all flight critical technologies are tested on prototypes production should start. Rest can be retrofitted since internal space is no longer a constraint like lca.

It's more of a timeline issue. Tedbf isn't coming before 2032. Then spinoff orca would take 2 or more years to fruitfy. At this timeline iaf will be better off ordering more AMCA mk1 if required and put money for AMCA mk2 procurement later.

Lca mk2// mwf timeline will be faster than what Shukla is anticipating . We are going for development cum production method for mwf. So no technology demonstration this time directly start with production ready prototypes . In this method their will be concurrent development with production...

And a single rafale can be as capable as 2-3 lca mk1 in the battle field. That is not to take away anything from lca but rafale is in different league all together . Mwf will be much closer to rafale but will be much more costly than mk1. Tedbf if built would be on par with rafale. Which is a...

Eagerly waiting for mk2 roll out. Nothing major is happening these days. No missile tests due to mansoon. Russian war is going in ultra slow motion. Chinkies as usual did nothing in Taiwan. No new news about anything. We need mk2 roll out to start rabid discussion again 😑😶😐
