I thought it was by OFB. But whoever did it, it is commendable. In long run, whether we go towards the Grendel round or not, but we should not run around like headless chicken in matter of platform.

Even we faced those initial issues. Good thing is that within the timeframe, most of them were rectified. Hopefully now its working fine as we could see its cut down versions in some tanks too.

The rifle launched 36M does come with a prefabricated launch tube. The hand thrown version of same can't be used as a rifle launched one unless one uses the cup mechanism and a blank cartridge. So basically it comes in a two mode version. One is to be thrown by hand and other launched from tube...

DRDO and OFB has just said what British used to say about the Mills grenade. Defensive role with fragmentation and offensive role with concussion. Its no wonder for DRDO/OFB to use these terms as we are used to license build the 36M till date. But from user perspective, it doesn't matter which...

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

I already mentioned it on previous post where I clarified by tagging @Bleh that its not the offensive or defensive mode which makes Shivalik a multimode grenade. Its the launch mode which makes it multimode in role. So no point in getting hyper over non issue.

@Bleh Don't confuse in Multimode being Offensive mode or deffensive mode.@Bhadra No need to get hyper on every issue and call out any research and development as DODO, no matter how trivial it may look to you. India would sure get TOT for S-400 system, but not for the missile and the seeker. The TOT would cover the source code part only, as it is a condition of the deal that S-400 should seamlessly integrate with Indian air defence system for layered protection.

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

Patkas does provide good protection against direct hit 7.62 AK round due to its full metal structure. As far as helmet is concerned, its not a DRDO product. Its an pvt entity outcome.

Can't compare Patkas with Helmets. Direct hit protection by Patka is better then most ballistic helmets. As far as new helmets are concerned, they are the same one used by NATO forces and its coming out from the same manufacturer.

First 50,000 lot are from TATA Advance Material. As far as news goes, DRDO has developed another prototype of light weight BPJs which could even withstand 7.62 NATO round. Can't vouch for the news though. Would only know when the first lot of delivery completes by next month.

    Modernisation of Indian Army Infantry

I've seen some joint Indo-US exercises where IA prefer to repel down a helicopter sans gloves and pads as opposed to their US counter part. When asked the reason for that, the simple answer was, it stops our natural movement and decrease our efficiency in situations like this. You might have...
