We had HAL Lancer for high-altitude ops... Now LCH can do that on its own. So requirement for such a light attach helicopter isn't really there. And for acting as fire-support gunship for SF helodrops too, we've got Rudra covering that.

Shit, the camos are good!.. At 1st i saw only one, the another above it... Then another one much later. :eek1:

I was critical of the green-blue-yellow pattern before but change my mind since then... That one turned out to be surprisingly versatile! The blue actually matches the hue created by atmospheric refraction at longer distances.

You know, if you give it some thought he is actually right though. The LCH may operate with 30mm cannon but it does not need to. Such cannon is primarily meant to engage hard target like armoured vehicles, or concrete structures, which will have heavy gun (.50cal or higher). No chance in a...

Nope. Read again. Incorrect. It is proportional. Payload decreases from 700kg at sea level to 500 kg at service ceiling. 2250kg empty + fuel + 350kg payload ≈ 2300kg + fuel + 350kg payload. (@IndianHawk what's the internal fuel?)

So how about a 7.62?.. It's still a light platform with a bigger gun. 70kg weight increment is nothing, will result in barely any performance difference. A single SANT is 50kg! At thin air of 6,500 metres (service ceiling), its effectively weapon payload of 350-500 kg. At Rajasthan (only 28...

Nah, a light platform does not necessarily mean it cannot carry heavy armament. Weight difference between 20mm M621 & 30mm GIAT 30 is 75kg only... Maybe 100kg with ammo load. But AT-9 was used by our Mi-35. LCH is not built to take that sort of punishment to launch ATGMs from line-of-sight...

Probably. It can carry 1ton load at low altitude and 500kg at high altitude. But it will be more useful in support roles, with a side granade-launcher (we dont use gatling guns for some reason) and two rocket pods.

Yes, I was wrong... That thing was cleared up in the following posts (also WFT MODI GOVT?!..). No need to reinvent that wheel again.

HAL Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) and Light Observation Helicopter (LOH)

Yes, I may have been wrong. Wiki says, twin engined coaxial rotor Ka-226 can lift 1050kg internally or 1100 kg on an external sling... LUH can lift it is capable of carrying cargoes of up to 1ton underslung & has almost 500m higher service ceiling. In which case: WTF MODI GOVT!?.. PS...

HAL Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) and Light Observation Helicopter (LOH)

Yeah, my wording does make it sound like that. What i meant was any other govt other than Modi's (looking at you Cutmoney-gress) would find a way to not buy it & get only Ka-226... on those grounds. :nono: Because he was saying why were buying both instead of only LUH.

Which is why we have separate need & niche for both. Do read what I was replying to & understand the context.

Ka-226 to start coming in from 2025 only. But it can carry twice the load of LUH & has modular body... Except LUH can operate higher. Any other govt. & they'd have rejected LUH altogether. We should copy the coaxial rotor tech from it.
