All it says is that the lead aircraft decides on the target and allots them to all the aircraft in the group. Where does it say anything about third party targeting? Communicating and designating targets is not the same third party targeting. MKIs also work in the similar fashion.

Hi, Since English is not my first language, I have difficulty understanding English documentaries. It would be better if you could give me a link to a written document.

The "payload" here refers to internal+external load, not just external. Hence 9 tonnes of payload includes the internal fuel of 3.3 tonne. In case of LCA, "external" payload is clear mentioned to be 3.5 tonnes.

Yes, that much I understood. However older seekers used to scan for the target mechanically which the staring array doesn't do. So I thought that the field of view of a staring array will be much smaller than that of a mechanically moved seeker. However, HOBS capability capability was added in...

Can anyone explain me the difference between the FPA seekers/staring arrays of the modern WVR missiles and older IR seekers? Why do FPA seekers have better performance even though both are passively operated? Thanks @p2prada @Twinblade

3 kg/mile gives around 0.43km/L which lower than average rates of 0.47 or 0.50 km/L as calculated above. 3lb/mile gives even a lower number. How can fuel efficiency be lesser at Bingo than the average for the whole flight? Shouldn't fuel efficiency increase as the aircraft loses fuel and becomes...

This is while calculating ferry range? i.e. flying at optimal altitude at optimal speed? Also, Bingo is low fuel right?

Just shut up. First you claimed Tejas has subsonic drag which was debunked. Then you stuck to high basic range which was shown to very high compared to other fighters by @p2prada. Then you stuck to ferry range which was again shown to be higher for the amount of fuel it carries. Now you have no...

What is this? You have multiplied the km/L ratio of mig 29 by two. Its 0.33km/L, not 0.66km/L For F16C, there is no established value of its ferry range. most common one is of 2000 nm, not 4220 km. Funnily enough, even in post #91 you yourself have claimed that F16C's ferry range is 2450 miles...

Re: ADA LCA Tejas - IV Forget combat radius. Basic range of 1800 km will still mean 0.6Km/L. No fighter provides such a good efficiency.

Re: ADA LCA Tejas - IV That range come with 6750 kg of fuel. JF17 will carry only around 4500 kg of fuel with all the drop tanks.

Re: ADA LCA Tejas - IV Where the hell did I arrive at the combat range? I have merely written the fuel fractions at loaded weight, as another member asked me to.

    Combat Aircraft technology and Evolution

Re: ADA LCA Tejas - IV This could be very well rectified in mk2 by increasing hardpoints. Also carrying an ecm/recce pod will take one of the hardpoints of mirage, Tejas has a separate point for that.

Re: ADA LCA Tejas - IV Lets see, calculating internal FF at loaded weight with full internal fuel: Tejas:25% EFT: 31% F22: 29% JF17:20.2% Gripen C:3000*0.8/8500=28.23 F16 C: 3175/12000=26.4 Rafale: 4700/14900=31.5% Note: I haven't included mirage 2000 as I could not get the values of its...

    Combat Aircraft technology and Evolution

Re: ADA LCA Tejas - IV Dude how are you getting 38% of FF? for a tejas sans weapons FF will be 2458/9500=25% and at mtow it will be 2458/13100=18.76%. It seems that you are including drop tanks here. Doing the same with mirage 2000, (5700+3978)*0.8/17000 gives us a FF of 45.5%

Well it is generally believed that YF23 easily exceeded YF22 in both speed and stealth. If you see F22, you will find its wing design now borrow features from YF23. YF22 exceeded its counterpart in maneuverability (due to presence of TVC) and electronics. So my point was that USAF chose a...

Thanks for the reply. I was studying about cm 400 akg missile and found this paragraph 1. What do they mean by several options seeker? Are they saying that either one IR or active radar homing seeker can be fitted or both can be used at the same time? If only either one can be used, how does...
