Actually, the way the US media portrays Indians, especially Indian-Americans, is relatively positive among ethnic groups (including Asians specifically). If anyone chooses the US after so much of history is blatantly anti national, that's all I am going to say. Just look at the way they treat us? Look at the way India is portrayed in their media and other TV programs and movies.
The US doesn't view China (or Russia, for that matter) as an enemy - it views the former as a rival, and the latter as a nuisance. Even though they are rivals, though, the US treats China politely because China has earned its grudging respect through economic development and military muscle, and because China returns the respect that the US gives it in areas not related to China's core interests.Look at the way our people are humiliated on a regular basis (the worst was APJ, in my opinion) not to mention the large scale conversions their institutions do in our land to weaken the very social fabric we Indian hold so dearly. How can any self respecting Indian choose them.
I have a question to all the pro US cronies on this forum. We have seen time and again that the US treats Indians much worse than the Chinese. They consider us as allies and the Chinese as an enemy. How can you explain this paradox?

However, the portrayal of India, the country, is broadly negative.

On the other hand, the US views India as a clumsy idealist at best and two-faced at worst. The US has always been deeply suspicious of India's willingness to accede to the 'global trade system', which, much more than democracy, is the real socioeconomic change the US wants to see in every society on earth... and India is not yet strong enough to have anything to offer to the United States.
Thanks for this opinion.I have been saying this same thing over and over again in the Ukrainian thread but no one listens to this. This is a very important thread. It is worth while reckoning who had done what for backward India.
In the end; Russia is a penniless friend. It has nothing to offer. Hence the choice will still fall on US. We have to settle with them in the same way as China settled with them to make economic gains.
We do have a History. Why are so many people liking Russia ?
May be because of this ? :Why are so many people liking Russia ?
What does emigration has to do with this?@Cliff@sea @thinker USSR is dead, and even at its peak people would have given an arm and leg to emigrate to the West not to the Soviet block.
Even today, people are crazy to emigrate to the West and not Russia.
