I think we needn't worry about LSA at all, LSA allows them access but it goes both ways. We will now have the ability to access US Naval and AF bases around IOR/ South China Sea, Japan Sea all of which could be vital in keep China surrounded Navally. Also by not agreeing to joint US/ Indo patrols of SCS, using their bases for fuel, repairs and logistics we can roam about freely.

Guys, India cannot avoid being strategic partners with US or Russia, its best we get our heads out of our asses. There are many benefits to this. We need their investments and they need us to keep China contained. The US which considers itself a champion of democracy can't be an enemy to India, the largest democracy. As far as Pak is concerned, the US gives arms them know very well those arms can't stop India from give Pak a world class whopping. We will reap plenty of benefits from this alliance. I also think being closer to the US will also allow us to" bring US and Russia closer. I sure hope for a Trump presidency, I think he will bring Russia and US onto a more friendly note.

Do we want to wait for the Chinese to walk all over us and eat away whatever claim we have to IOR or take action now.

Just making a claim to IOR does not make it ours. If you leave a house empty, it gets occupied by intruders.

I laugh at this claim to IOR. What influence we have beyond tall claims. The only place Indians are really welcome is Mauritius due to its largely Indian roots.

India needs real military power to stake its claim in IOR.
