Ok, so there were a few posts before on this thread about casaulities inflicted in surgical strikes , I have finished reading the chapter on surgical strikes in both shiv aroor's book and Nitin gokhale's book, gokhale's book is more detailed and did spill some interesting points ,he says this by no means is an analytical account but mostly FACTUAL which he has authenticated with multiple sources, now pakis KILLED as told by col H and col K themselves are ATLEAST 70-75, which were later reportedly confirmed by radio chatter from across loc to be ATLEAST 80, on the very same day of strikes.
Although they did say that we didn't stop and count the dead ,our mission was destruction of targets , however from what they saw there were ATLEAST 70-75 dead .
Also they did move in close to the targets even resulting in hand to hand combat with a few running pakis.
Now, other thing a lot of paki soldiers got hallaled , specially in the large administrative base and several launch pads deep inside POK , which he mentions MOST OCCUPANTS are Pakistani soldiers and many terrorists.
They also mentioned a few days before the strikes, camps were reinforced with additional men and SPECIALISED teams being deployed for additional security And also the fact normally paki regulars also roam in pathani suits at these camps but during that time more soldiers were in regular army uniform then pathanis suits there ,which according to them happens when senior paki officers visit the camps ,which happens rarely .
So, in brief we actually fried a lot of PAKI SOLDIERS .

yup gokhale's book is superb and thats y i prefer it over aroors&co which seem superflous. thats y i got unsure abt the real pepl who led the strike nd wndered if it was indeed maj. tango who led it!

gokhale made me think abt the COs. also, i saw a news piece where it said, col K nd col H were awarded YSM in a pvt ceremony on 25th jan nd not 26th! YSM's r usually awarded among other awardees y a special ceremony for these 2?
if not for the unit citations on army day, no one wud have even seen them. xtreme secrecy abt them is making me think that there is more to these 2 guys and their role.....i mean, col shekhawat is almost a public fig yet no one has touched him. its not like CO's has to be out of limelight.

There was an SF guy (Major Sharyf Bhonsle) who was trekking in Spain, he was kidnapped and disappeared. There are also instances of Israeli soldiers being threatened to be put under "citizen's arrest" for war crimes, basically, civilians can capture them and hand them over to Hague.

Israeli ex-military chief cancels trip to UK over threat of war crimes arrest

It may or may not happen but it's not worth the risk, at least, as an SOP.

I still don't understand why people share personal life on SM, defense personal at that.
Teenager's i can understand, they don't know any better.
Nincompoops what I can say. Atleast now they must understand and never post anything related to defence. Nothing will be lost if someone update their work as " Self employed". That DRDO pune guy did to attract chicks. Higher position in government job hence high pay and benefits hence heavy wallet hence pretty chick to bang.

In a blog here, they suggest that he might have either deserted or faced a mishap during the para jump in Spain.

https://findfictionfact.wordpress.com/2015/01/10/missing-major/

The initial reporting on him was that he was a victim, then as weeks progressed, they changed their tone and started hinting some wrongdoing. Disappeared, as in, colloquially speaking, entrapped and picked up by a foreign agency. He would have no one to desert to if he wasn't contacted by them, and they wouldn't have been able to reach out to him had his profile not been known.

There's a blog post from an Army doctor who met him (2011 ka post hai). What's interesting is that his favorite quote says "there's no problem big enough that one can't run away from.."

http://docshibs.blogspot.com/2011/02/meet-mr-awesome.html

Usually when people desert, the foreign agency makes arrangements to evacuate the family first. Rabinder Singh is a classic example (poor fella died in an 'accident' recently). Here, the soldier disappeared alone (in the blog above, there are comments from close relatives still inquiring his whereabouts), hinting towards entrapment rather than voluntary desertion. In legal parlance, if an officer leaves the nation without reporting to military intel first, it's technically treated as desertion. Poor chap might have been honeytrapped or something.

@12arya this one :
Army officer goes missing in Spain, declared absconder

2 Indian soldiers had gone missing in 2008 in California during exercise Shatrujeet.

The US response seems sarcastic :

"We are working with the Department of Defense, as well as state and local law enforcement agencies, to provide the Indian government with all the help it needs to locate these individuals," the State Department said.

If American soldiers disappeared in India, it would have become a major bilateral standoff.

This guy posted every thing on facebook. Where he was travelling etc etc. Good kick start for ISI nabs.
Actually it seems he deserted: Go through the forum thread link I posted, its started by some BASE jumpers who knew him and reportedly he confessed he wanted to go AWOL also he seemed to have quoted wrong Jump No. People knew he had military background. Seems fishy.. why Norway? Remember Norway is hotbed of NATO/US sleuth activities
