China is the ultimate contradiction - A communist country with a population that is so completely enamoured with money, accumulation of wealth, and luxury lifestyle. The Chinese are by nature some of the most greedy people in the world. No amount of wealth can satiate their desire for more wealth. No matters how much Xi talks about shared prosperity, CCP party values, or purges of business billionaires - no one in China other than the party faithful give a shit about CCP propaganda.

So the massive wealth inequality is going to continue to grow and grow. Essentially its a "dog eat dog" culture no different than any capitalist country. So all the problems they attribute to decadent Western democratic societies......they suffer from the same issues, or maybe even worse. They only hide them, but even that, their own people can see thru the CCP bullshit. This is why all communist countries are ultimately big flops. The political rhetoric never matches the reality of the masses.

This is a really good article and I have to say I have to agree on Wang Huning's observations and thoughts, this is exactly how I have been thinking the last few years but for Indian political structure and policies after coming to the same conclusions about seeing the impact of liberals and the distance from the core values which is making US hollow from the inside.

India needs the pool of leadership which can take us in that direction, the good thing is we already have the ideology but very blunt right now, Hindutva, the Hindu identity and values of all Indians regardless of religion and region balanced with strong economic and industrial push.

So, now you are speaking on behalf of Chinese ordinary people?

No one in China other than the party faithful give a shit about CCP propaganda?

Really? Ironically, the most popular newspaper among those Chinese rich is - PEOPLE DAILY! Why? Because they know you can find the clue of the latest policy change in CCP 's propaganda.

So the massive wealth inequality is going to continue to grow and grow. Essentially its a "dog eat dog" culture no different than any capitalist country. Yeh, said by a person only got his Chinese knowledge from CNN, BBC.
CCP is not god that can fix every problem even though they want people to believe that way. But there is one good thing about them: they never turn their blind eye to the problem. If they say they will do something, you better believe them. May not succeed, but will definitely do.

Its an ok system, it wont work anywhere else because it has a lot of blind spots and thats the point of the talker that it is working for China so far. While the intent to make corrective measures is good, CCP takes it to next level for the need to see quick results. Every decisions have huge consequences just like when they thought they had too many people to feed and applied the one child policy.

I am pretty sure there are lot of brilliant people coming out of Chinese system but China also gives a lesson on what a largely godless or materialistic society looks like too and I am by no means a hardcore believer of religion either and I know the flaws of abrahamic religion but there has to be a balance between materialism and spirituality. Both India and China has different sets of problems and I hope atleast both start thinking in terms of civilisation and not just as countries with border disputes. Both can live with each other and prosper while the other is prospering. We cannot have another phase of American way of running things around the world which thrives on conflicts around the world.

Quick results? Most of CCP's policy don't see the result in 10 years.
You may have an impression of quick results, that is because they only publicly talk about it until the time that results coming out.

For example, the reform & open policy. The actual prepare started before Mao's death. The decision was made in1978. We see the result? The end of 1980s.

Every decisions have huge consequences just like when they thought they had too many people to feed and applied the one child policy.
Be mindful, the one child policy wasn't a mistake in 1980s-2000s. At the time, the threat of food security was real (yes, I knew as I live through that period). There were 3 things that CCP got wrong:

1. The advancement of agricultural technologies brought the output to a level that they could not imagine;
2. The manufacturing industries are so successful that China surprisingly has money to import massive volume of food;
3. In China, the critics about one Child policy is not the policy itself but CCP should have stopped it earlier;

1. The mistakes where appointing a rocket scientist to understand what demographics are gonna be in future who absolutely got it wrong.

2. The mistake of Tackling food wastage strictly and at the same time spreading awareness of having fewer kids but not going as far as punishing them or monitoring them instead of screwing the whole demographic scale towards boys.

3. Not understanding that your own officials where fudging census data to make them look agreeable which in effect would mean the top couldn't actually kill the one child policy specifically because the data didn't look that bad "on paper".

If you think to tackle food security we have to force people to have fewer mouths to feed then boy are we on a slippery slope.

Both countries can work look to together to secure these issues instead of working alone. India could help with its vast arable land. China could help with tech to increase productivity without damaging soil and similarly other spheres like water desalination, just because we have huge markets we can make these feasible and cheap. That doesn't mean we have to depend on each other, it is always the doomsday scenario where we dont have to take extreme measures and have friendly neighbors just like how it works in real life in your own society.

Which rocket scientist? The people who put up this plan was an economist. Certainly, the whole policy was reviewed by a group of scientists of different background.

2. The mistake of Tackling food wastage strictly and at the same time spreading awareness of having fewer kids but not going as far as punishing them or monitoring them instead of screwing the whole demographic scale towards boys.
Who tells you they didn't? Simply, didn't work good enough.

3. Not understanding that your own officials where fudging census data to make them look agreeable which in effect would mean the top couldn't actually kill the one child policy specifically because the data didn't look that bad "on paper".
Typically the kind of words learned from CNN and BBC, right? Yeh, a bunch of people sitting in the room waiting for the data sent by someone else but no idea how that data was made off.

Well, in the real world, they are just like those wall street bosses reading the data from different sectors of the economy, some data gives good signal but some gives bad signal. They have to identify which one will impose bigger influence in the future. Sometimes, they are right, sometimes they are wrong, simple as that.

If you think to tackle food security we have to force people to have fewer mouths to feed then boy are we on a slippery slope.
So, what else you suggest? Pretending that issue doesn't exist? Just remember: at the time, China was poor country, there was not many options in their hand. One child policy may not be the best solution, but it was indeed the only one they had.

I just like to point out a few things here:
1. Currently, the 1.4 billion population is already the maximum population that Chinese arable land can support (actually the over fertilizer already became a serious issue in many places);
2. There is nowhere that China will be able to expand their arable land;

If CCP didn't implement one child policy, China should have 400+ million extra mouths to feed. Importation of food alone could have bankrupted Chinese financial system long time ago.

Kid, without one child policy, China didn't have resources to develop on technology or industries at all.

By the soul of Mao, this isn't good news at all for the CCP. More Xu Yanjuns are being smoked out by gwailou which is a telling comment on the quality of talent intake within the MSS. I'm beginning to think this isn't going to end well for the CCP at all.

CCP seems to have improved treatment of its slaves by leaps & bounds compared to what it was in great helmsman 1.0 period. Today they only insert probes up your backsides to take anal swabs for testing or throw you into quarantine or into concentration camps for dissent... AS OF THE PRESENT.

There's a saying in English - A leopard doesn't change its spots.

Fascinating. You seem to have plenty of experience having tasted them all , Chang . After all , those who declared the Han ate everything that moved weren't exaggerating , we see.

Tell us , how does it taste as compared to aborted human foetuses or bats or pangolins or live baby mice ?
