This move benefits only China because they can print as much of their own currency as they want and it is not backed in the real world by any real commodity. If one has US dollar reserves, they can buy stuff from all over the world. What does Pakistan get from stocking up on Chinese currency? which country, other than China, can they use this currency?

Pakistani Jernails will have to start sending their kids to Chinese universities and buying mansions in China.

What I'm more worried about is the impending Chinese debt balloon. Should the Chinese manage to make the Yuan a viable alternative to the USD or the Euro, then they will either manage to keep minting money and churn their growth engines or drag much of the world with them into a post-depression nightmare.

Reality is that US dollar is going to remain supreme at least as long as members of DFI are alive. If USA plays its cards right by India, japan, So Korea, Asean nations on its side...forget 50 years...it will take China 1000 years to reach equal to US.

For getting answers to your question look in hindsight 70 yrs back. It was the precise reason the former superpower created Pakistan out of India. Cold war between UK, USA vs UsSR had already started by mid of WWII. And UK did not want India directly accessible to Central Asia. So they planted the Pak state in between and cut off access of India to Afghanistan. The kingdom where British were defeated. That is the reason Pak finds itself buyers who are willing to rent her services for their own strategic interest.

This will change with the shift in economic realities. As the UK weakens, it will resort to selling out some of the strategic advantages it has cultivated over the century, in exchange for extending their illusion of being a world power for a few more years. That is why they cultivated it. There is no use holding on to it without encashing it.

If the US becomes too pro-Pakistan and starts getting too much strategic foothold in the region, putting the UK at a disadvantage on the negotiating table when it comes to exploiting the spoils of war, then the UK will start playing spoilsport to prevent the US from making any gains unless they let the UK have their share.

India can find wriggling room here.

If, hypothetically, the UK finds a buyer for their military equipment in say, Kazakhstan, to earn some foreign currency and influence in that strategic region close to Russia and China, and if they realize that they can manufacture in India and send the equipment across, then magically they will start supporting connectivity between India to central Asia.

Trump is not a trustworthy ally. In case he wanted strategic partnership with India, he wouldn't be terrorising Lakhs of Indian living in US by changing Visa rules/policies. Interesting development. But Pak will dish out their usual crap about there being no terrorists on their soil and that RAW and NDS need to stop cross border terror instead and threaten to shut the vital border crossings for U.S. supply trucks.

Whatever, I wonder what action the US would take? Stop IMF/WB largess? Stop supply of spares for their American military equipment including their F-16s? Drone/missile strikes on terrorist HQs? Abbottabad type commando raid to take out the Haqqanis? Declare Pak as a terrorist state? Rescind Pak's major non NATO ally status? Or will it be status quo with a few more endless warnings thrown in as has been the usual American stance till now?
