Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company Ltd (GNPOC)
In June 18, 1997, Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company Limited (GNPOC) was incorporated to operate as a petroleum company in Sudan. GNPOC is a joint operating company owned by:
CNPC of China (40%)
PETRONAS of Malaysia (30%)
ONGC of India (25%)
SUDAPET of Sudan (5%)
In 1998 to 1999 GNPOC installed oil production and processing facilities for 5 oil fields in the Muglad Basin of South Sudan. More than 15,000 KM pipeline was also constructed from the fields to Bashair terminal in the Red Sea. Production was estimated at 150,000 bpd and
A bit late but still a good move. However, what are the measures taken by GoI to ensure that our soldiers are better equipped to face such situations?
This may not be the last time as Sudan and many such countries in future would present very difficult challenges ahead for our troops.
I remember @Yusuf once mentioned about one such soldier who briefed on the not so good support from GoI?
Typing posts on the internet and casting a vote in 5 years can only take us so far.
I believe DFIans should use such incidents to come out and register our protest on the current apathy that runs across the rulers and the ruled.
After all .. our blood boils only when gun shots ring close to the ears.
Because the whteman won't risk their citizens' life and it helps India to exercise influence in areas that it otherwise could not have exercised by normal means.why we r there & fight a white mans war...we should stop sending troops under un flag only try colour our soldies should work...does we have any natinal interest there
