Crisis

an unstable or crucial time or state of affairs in which a decisive change is impending; especially : one with the distinct possibility of a highly undesirable outcome.
After two years, Syria remains in civil war. It should no longer be called a crisis.

TIFWIW. Somehow very difficult to believe this stuff i.e. it seems the 2 missiles which were fired towards syria which fell down in sea were fired by usa from nato base as part of strikes on syria and not some us-israel drill.

Though it would be very "careless" of israel and usa to conduct drill when situation was very tense in the region, but would obama give permission before getting senate approval??? Or was this missile firing/testing happened before obama publicly stated that he would seek senate approval?? @SajeevJino @W.G.Ewald @pmaitra

First of all Is this Ballistic Missile or Rockets

why US need to use the Spain base to launch BM over Syria

The US doesn't keep any kind of ballistic missile in Spain

They have Missile Cruisers in Mediterranean equipped with Tomahawk ..why they didn't fire Their Cruise missiles and Using ballistic missiles would be the height of insanity

My Final Question

Where the hell they Started the war with launching 2 Ballistic missiles or the Rockets

Finally some Magic from the Kremlin

@SajeevJino if you look at my post i have put across these 2 things in the beginning itself

Somehow very difficult to believe this stuff
So now, maybe they might have been trying to test russian stuff in mediterranean as to how "ready" they are. Firing anything from their own vessels nearby syria or from turkey/jordan/west asia could have escalated things but maybe firing some dummy missiles from far off (if not spain) place would give time for radars to pick it and more importantly give time to respond (if possible) so that they can analyse how the response will be.

Again nothing in stake for me, as i said TIFWIW.

Leave the Muslims alone.

Let them decide their fate.

Let us not add to the terrorists who are destabilising the world!

Muslims require a no nonsense autocratic dictatorial leader!

See what has happened to Iraq, even though the western media has lost interest and not reporting the reality!

It is in total chaos and bloodshed!

Sunni Shia crap!

Altered Images: 'Chemical weapons' videos under scrutiny

After a UN report concluded that chemical weapons were used in Syria last month, efforts to determine who was to blame rage on via websites.
UK Foreign Secretary William Hague believes the weapons inspectors' findings are "fully consistent" with his belief that Bashar al-Assad's government was responsible. But videos uploaded to the YouTube and LiveLeak websites this week claim to show opposition forces launching the 21 August attack on the Damascus suburb of Ghouta. They were swiftly picked up by media outlets in countries allied to Syria, including state-owned TV channel Russia Today.

Kerry had a pithy response to the assertions of Assad and the Russian government that the opposition used sarin gas: "Please."

"Sarin was used. Sarin killed," he said Thursday. "The world can decide whether it was used by the regime, which has used chemical weapons before, the regime which had the rockets and the weapons. Or whether the opposition secretly went unnoticed into territory they don't control to fire rockets they don't have, containing sarin that they don't possess, to kill their own people."

Mortar round lands in Russian Embassy in Damascus

A mortar round landed inside the Russian Embassy compound in Damascus on Sunday, state media said, as Moscow said it was willing to send military observers to secure Syrian efforts to surrender its chemical weapons to international control.

The Russian Embassy is located in Damascus' upscale Mazraa district, which also houses several Syrian security institutions, a soccer stadium and nightclubs.

In another mortar attack outside the capital, two people were injured when shells slammed into a residential building in the suburb of Jaramana, SANA said.

Syrian rebel group kills local Al-Qaeda chief

An Al-Qaeda group in Syria said one of its top commanders was killed in an ambush by rival Western-backed rebels in a northern province.

It was the latest in rising infighting among rebel groups in northern Syria, where the opposition controls large swaths of territory captured from President Bashar Assad's troops earlier this year.

The group, known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, said its commander in Idlib province, Abu Abdullah al-Libi, was ambushed by members of the Free Syrian Army near a border crossing with Turkey.

The statement said the attackers sprayed the car with bullets on Sunday, killing al-Libi. The name is a nom de guerre.

The statement could not be independently confirmed but was posted on a commonly-used militant website.

It would be interesting to watch NATO and Turkish-backed rebels start shooting up Saudi and Qatari-backed rebels.

The Shadow War Behind Syria’s Rebellion: Foreign Backers Jockey for Influence in Turkey | TIME.com
The Saudi support for the more moderate rebel groups may seem at odds with Saudi Arabia's own austere ideology but in the past, when the Saudis have backed ultraconservative Islamist militants (including supporting jihadists fighting the Soviet Union in Afghanistan in the 1980s) they have also experienced blowback domestically, notably when the late al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who was once a Saudi citizen, branded the ruling House of Saud apostates.

In early 2012, the two Gulf powerhouses, which are frequently political rivals, were instrumental in setting up a secretive group that operated something like a command center in Istanbul, with representatives from across Syria tasked with funneling free and vital military supplies through Turkey (with the help of Turkish intelligence and Western backing) and across the border into Syria. Both Saudi Arabia and Qatar had representatives in the command center.

A rift in the command center between Qatar and Saudi Arabia emerged in August of last year, with the Saudi and Qatari representatives backing different factions from among the plethora of armed groups on the ground in Syria. By September, when a group of senior military defectors and the Saudi-based Salafi sheikh Adnan al-Arour set up the Joint Command of the Revolutionary Military Councils, the command center had more or less crumbled and was superseded by the Joint Command, which was primarily backed by Qatar, while the Saudis continued to pick and choose who they wanted to work with.
