Actually these days since Al Jaljeera is available on the DTH TV, I watch it in conjunction with CNN and BBC.

I must say that they have a very balanced reporting and even commentaries.

Sir, there is a lot of propaganda and fake news too to show the Asad regime in bad light. I dont know where I saw/read but there was a story on this kind of fake news. But the thing is that the rebels have western and their neighbors support and everything is suppressed or exaggerated depending on the need.
there are no good guys in this war you can stop looking
its just MB vs IRGC round one with thousands off innocent bystanders

welcome to the middle east keep your head down :israel:

Tell you what, Israel is better off with Asad in power in spite of their support real or alleged to Hezbollah. You really dont want the Saudis having their likes in power all over Mid East.

I am speaking long term.

taking off from shout box, long term interest of israel and the US lies with better relations with Iran and as an extension, Syria both of which has Shia governments. iran has the requisite oil reserves.. Iran is not a demon as its made out to be. Its only posturing for the clergy to keep power. Iran has nothing to do with sunni palestinians. Its just that they need to keep someone as the bogey. I think Iranians can be worked with. US and Israel should give it a chance.

IMO The rhetoric is for greater acceptance in the Muslim world.

But, as you said their population doesn't really identify with the Palestinians. Iranians never liked Arabs
yes, that is right..iran is just creating this. Iran had no issues with Israel till the clergy came to power.. There was no "popular" support for the palestinian cause till 1978. What changed?

Before the clergy they were under Uncle Sam. Post revolution, Iran doesn't really have many friends in geopolitical sense (yes...yes I know the popular saying).

Palestinian rhetoric is for strategic depth in Islamic world

Good Question

What changed was US policy to hurt Iran ; as a revenge for the hostage crisis of 1979 ;
using Sunni Saddam as a tool during the Iran Iraq war

SO Iran HAD to drive a wedge between USA and its puppet the Saudis

How could it do it Use the Palestine issue

Because US will have to protect Israel and the Saudis will have to Confront USA
to PROVE that they are the leaders of the OIC

the sha hated Arabs as uncivilized barbarians
he used Persian nationalism as basis for legitimacy not Islam
when the clerics came to power Islam was their source for legitimacy
and the use off political Islam requires a non Islamic devil (just like in Pakistan)

America ( not without good reason ) was used as this devil and the anti Israel stance was adopted accordingly
(with the bonus of being popular with the suni Arabs)

Iran has always wanted a Shia Crescent which it has now got after
Sunni Saddam was ousted

Suddenly the Shias feel powerful as they have a more oil now in their control
ie Iraqi and Iranian and Baharin which is seeing internal turmoil
has a majority of Shia population but a Sunni ruler

All This has further increased the Shia Sunni conflict

But the stupid Iranians made ONE cardinal mistake they went too far with their
POSTURING and Now they are in deep trouble

only after a regime change
the clerics cannot use nationalism as a source for legitimacy only secular nationalist government can

No now it is too late for the Iranian clergy

they are caught between the Devil ie Israel US and Saudi combine
AND the deep sea ie their OWN internal power structure ie HOW the Iranian Clergy
rules Iran

Iranian clergy thought that they would be able to get nukes
surreptiously HAD they managed it could have been a game changer for Iran

But 9/11 happened AQ Khan and the Libyans and North Koreans SOLD out Iran's plans
and the game was up
