Almost all modern pistols (except a very few like Laugo Alien) follows the general schema of Glocks and SIGs; tilting barrel, semi cocked striker, glass filled polymer grip and steel slide, modular fire control group. And these are the optimal solution to the question of "Pistol". We have reached a developmental plateau in terms of pistols so every new pistol will more or less follow these only.

The only question is from what exact model they have copied everything; Masada or VP9 or something else.

Astr Atal Pistol

SIG Sauer P320 Compact Pistol

in a previos some post of mine i thought it was based on FN 509 pistol owning to how they derived their Indra Rifle from SCAR design etc, but after a while i found a much near pistol to Atal that SIG Sauer P320 was, and since then I believe it is (read again) derived from that one.

If true then this is how it would disassemble to primary parts

and further key working parts here, of that ;fire control unit; housing trigger group and associated parts,

and parts of slide

We could always just swap the barrels on the sigs and adopt the 6.8 round.
And yes but not the high pressure version, that will probably crack bolts.

Is it just a barrel swap that is required ?

Someone in Amrika had taken a caliper, measured every dimensions in few FN guns he was having and made 3D models of it. These models were available in open source until few years ago. Then they were taken down after this ghost gun thing in US.

Yep that is exactly that, an upscaled 7.62 NATO calibre variant of their 5.56x45mm Carbine which is ;inspired; from SIG SG550

^regd SG550 part i would like to clarify before people start confusing themselves calling it ;copy;
it definitely isn't copy, but what i meant essentially was, the receiver design that is there on OFB's carbine is taking its inspirations from SG550 series, with being of two sections design like in AR-15 and other modern assault rifles

So yeah, this way it is a SIG SG550 inspired project, and both are also Kalashnikov derivatives in terms of main operating mechanism of gas system + bolt and bolt carrier assembly

you can get further validation that it is inspired from SIG SG550 when you visit OFB Ishapore's Rifle Room where they are having SG550 (seems semi-auto only) showcased there, credit to sandeep unnithan of course

so they already had their base weapon in hand, just had to make something from it

though do also note, OFB // AWEIL // ARDE 5.56x45mm Carbine is a milled receiver weapon as visible, while SG550 series was a stamped sheet receiver one, but milled is better for us
otoh JVPC, which is also two-section receiver design (in semi-bullpup Uzi like configuration), is stamped sheet receiver build one.

Indian stamped steel weapons quality is ultra shit.Milled ones are better.If any doubt just take a Ghatak and a Tar.Literally speaking the rust and hard edges of Ghatak may give you tetanus infection
