i kinda am concerned looking at it, though,

mainly because reciprocal charging handles like this are already causing issues like snagging on body vest or other gears of the shooter or other environmental stuff like vegetation and ropes and what not, and increasing its length is like inviting such troubles to even more extent, plus it greatly increases chances of accidental cycling of the bolt which could result in issues like improper ejection/feeding of the ammo, ammo getting stuck/carrier getting stuck due to outside gunk going inside and what not...

this is why many SCAR operators chose to get aftermarket non-reciprocating downward facing charging handle mod kit for their rifles...

my advise, if they really want to go through this jugaad better cut the neck of 7.62x39mm case, it'll be somewhat similar to length of charging handle of the AK and then use such shortened case for ;this jugaad; so they get best of both worlds, not potentially increasing the length of charging handle much as well as getting cylindrical grip on it, in the west there already exist readymade aftermarket stuff that fulfills same thing

Not just JKP but RR have adopted this jugaad on a wide-scale and by wide I mean the whole battalions. Every single soldier is doing it. And they have been doing it for 5 ys it's didn't cause a big problem up till now

You can also add this to the lot.

A CBC-SSS Defence joint venture that will start ammunition production in India in 2022.

In an exclusive interaction with Financial Express Online, Ambassador André Aranha Corrêa do Lago said “Very few people know that CBC is the second largest producer of ammunition in the world. As with other joint-ventures, we welcome the partnership between Brazilian and Indian private companies, especially in a critical area such as defence. The joint-venture between CBC and SSS Defence has been progressing well. From what I have been informed, production in the plant in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, is slated to begin by mid-2022. Prospects are positive, and the joint initiative could be scaled up as early as 2025.”

As US is witnessing more than ever mass shooting, more and more Indian firms are setting up ammunition manufacturing facilities.

Who the heck they plan to sell ammo?
Indian Army, for the 7.62x51 mm ammunition requirement for the Sig 716i and Negev NG7.

Indian Airforce, Navy, Army for 5.56x45 mm ammunition for the Tavors that was imported until now.

Sales actually rise up after mass shootings. After the hue and cry is over after a few weeks they’ll all forget about it and it will usually go back to normal.

And for both we have OFB.

OFB now manufacturers export grade ammo and also they have long achieved breakeven point.

Except for a very few companies all small arms and ammunition manufacturers survive on civilian markets.
The only reason SIG Sauer survived this long to witness these big ass M17/18 and XM5/250 contracts is their sales in civilian markets. Otherwise they could have also ended as companies like Colt.

But from Indian point of view, where are those markets?
Canada is rapidly curbing gun ownership. USA is also having an anti-2nd amendment president. European gun markets are also very regulated and very much hunting oriented.
Moreover all these markets have a long established name in them. Winchester, Federal, CCI, Hornady, Fiocchi, Speer in North America. Sellier & Bellot, Wolf, TulAmmo in Europe. NORINCO in MENA.

Foreign company charge a whopping price for these mods... Having said that a custom slightly thicker one would be better as it won't stuck in clothes even if it did can be handled easily while being easy on fingers.

In the comment section many americans are asking one to be exported to check how much effective was the mars round.
