Some more data on the dip,

Excerpt:

Fewer stone-pelting cases in Kashmir under central rule
(It means, NC and PDP can suck it!)

According to data reviewed by Hindustan Times, the total number of stone-pelting cases registered under the NC-INC regime between 2009 and 2014 was 2,690 with a spike in 2010, when protests took place against alleged killings by the army in the Macchil sector.

The number of stone-pelting incidents in the Kashmir valley has dipped under direct federal rule compared to the number reported under the two previous political administrations — the Peoples Democratic Party-Bharatiya Janata Party (PDP-BJP) coalition that was in power between 2015 and mid-2018, and the National Conference-Indian National Congress (NC-INC) alliance that stayed in office between 2009 and 2014.

Governor’s rule was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir on June 18, 2018 after the BJP withdrew support to the PDP, forcing chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to resign. A total of 349 stone-pelting cases were registered in the remaining part of last year. Thus far in 2019 (until July 17), there have been 355 incidents of stone-pelting. The state is currently under President’s rule.

According to data reviewed by Hindustan Times, the total number of stone-pelting cases registered under the NC-INC regime between 2009 and 2014 was 2,690 with a spike in 2010, when protests took place against alleged killings by the army in the Macchil sector.

The PDP-BJP government, headed initially by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and then, after his death, by his daughter Mehbooba Mufti, recorded a high of 4,522 cases against stone-pelters with a huge spike of 2,897 cases in 2016 amid widespread protests over the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant commander Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces and rising disgruntlement against the PDP for joining hands with the BJP.

Data over a decade also suggests that Srinagar, the base of the pro-Pakistan umbrella separatist group Hurriyat Conference, witnesses the most number of instances of stone-pelting.
Sopore, a hotbed of the Jamaat-e-Islami, Kashmir and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activity, Baramulla and Pulwama aren’t far behind.

While militant activity in north Kashmir towns is dominated by the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, south Kashmir towns like Pulwama, Kulgam and Anantnag are hubs of terrorists from the Hizbul Mujahideen and the Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammed. Kupwara, Avantipora, Handwara, Ganderbal and Bandipora are, in general, more peaceful, going by the data.

Senior Jammu and Kashmir police officials believe that the free hand given to security forces under Governor’s and now President’s rule is largely responsible for the decline in the number of stone-pelting incidents, and blame the politicians for being soft on troublemakers. For instance, the PDP-BJP government, at Mehbooba Mufti’s instance, announced an amnesty for first-time stone-pelters.:frusty:(F U Nibbi)

Top home ministry officials also understand that the alienation of the Kashmiri must end, apart from neutralizing terrorists or launching big-ticket schemes. “ Home minister Amit Shah made it very clear to district commissioners in Kashmir during his visit that all 354 central government schemes that touch an average Kashmiri must be implemented in toto. He made it clear that the priority is Kashmiri public — with big infrastructure schemes and counter-terrorism operations going hand in hand,” said a senior home ministry official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

According to counter-terrorism operatives, there are a total of 300 terrorists in the valley currently, of which 115 are of Pakistani or Afghan nationality. The focus of security agencies is to not allow these numbers to go up by stopping replenishment from across the border and putting an end to the recruitment of local young men in South Kashmir.

India building 61 strategic roads along Pakistan, China borders
A revised Long Term Roll on Works Plan of Border Roads Organisation for five years (2018-19 to 2022-23) has been formulated for construction and improvement of 272 roads of length 14,545 km, Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.

India is building 61 strategic roads along the borders with China and Pakistan to strengthen its military infrastructure in the region.

Out of these 272 roads, 61 roads of length 3,323.57 km have been identified as strategic. Work has been completed on 2,304.65 km and work on balance stretches is in progress.

Further, in addition to meeting the operational requirement, the above mentioned roads on completion would also enhance accessibility to border areas where the border infrastructure and forward connectivity is lacking.

India has been focusing in building infrastructure in the eastern and northern borders with China to match up their military building along the Line of Actual Control.

Sheila Dixit just got cremated in New Delhi, & Paki idiots are talking about Imran Khan meeting her in Washington DC today :) :) :)

FYI, the 'Sheila' that they intend to refer to is 'Sheila Jackson'. She has headed the 'Pakistan Caucus' in US Congress for couple of decades. She was instrumental in helping Pakis get US aid money, while Pakis used that to train Taliban to kill US soldiers; Musharraf has publicly claimed that she was his bitch who he called on to lobby for Pakis whenever trouble arose due to Pakis duplicitous/devious acts!
The guy with a bow-tie (on the show) is supposedly a Paki & prominent US Citizen/businessman...yet his pea sized brain displays signs of Paki manufacture! Even a prominent political/foreign-affairs journalist like Moeed Pirzada has no clue about the correct Sheila!!

I’m not saying to trust Qatar, but I’ll try to find the article where I read that nothing like this happened. It was actually posted by some member earlier.

The French government tweeted that the news was fake! What more of confirmation is required?
It was some Pakis who initially spread that rumor, and then few unwitting western journalists started quoting those false rumors!
French government, on record, said that no such thing happened!!!

First battle group to be along Pakistan border
Two similar IBGs for frontier with China soon

An Indian Army Corps under the Western Command has been chosen to depute the first integrated battle group (IBG). This is part of a series of steps to restructure the Army to make it leaner and more agile.

Besides, the next phase is to have two similar IBGs in the Himalayas facing China. The IBG on the western front will have different equipment, training and attack tactics than the ones for Himalayas facing China.

Once done, this will be the first tweak to the ‘cold start doctrine’, first made public in 2004 and planned after ‘Operation Parakram’ of 2002.

The first IBG is likely to be tasked along the frontier with Pakistan and what is operationally known as the ‘Shakargarh Bulge’. The Corps and the Western Command — headquartered at Chandimandir, near Chandigarh — have been told to submit a full proposal, sources in the Army told The Tribune.

This will be ratified by the Ministry of Defence before being approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Western Command has three Corps — one each headquartered at Ambala, Jalandhar and Yol (Dharamsala). One of these has been tasked with the responsibility of raising the IBG.

The IBGs will not be new raisings or inductions, it will involve integrating existing elements of infantry, tank regiments, artillery, UAVs, engineers and signals. An IBG, with six battalions of infantry, armoured and artillery, will be commanded by Major General or a Brigadier and placed directly under the Corps — a unit headed by Lieutenant General-rank officer. An IBG is expected to bring a significant operational change in the Army.

Topmost commanders of the Army had in October last year decided to restructure the force in phases to convert it into a lean and mean 21st-century force. All suggested operational aspects such as having integrated battle groups have been validated in exercises in Punjab this summer. The 1.3 million-strong Army has undergone a change in tactics, but its size is not matching with limited budgets the government can allocate. There are four major in-house studies.

The study on “Re-organisation and Rightsizing of the Indian Army” has reviewed operational structures to make them efficient and future-ready by taking into account the operational situation on western and northern borders. The IBGs are part of this.

Towards lean & mean force

  • Integrated battle group is part of restructuring process of the Army to convert it into a lean and mean 21st-century force

  • Will be formed by integrating existing elements of infantry, tank regiments, artillery, UAVs, engineers and signals

  • Will have six battalions of infantry, armoured and artillery, commanded by Major General or Brigadier, placed directly under the Corps

  • One of the three Corps headquartered at Ambala, Jalandhar and Yol (Dharamsala) will be tasked with raising the IBG

Bro,you know more than many of us combined, why the "weeds" lacks "nutrients"
these days.

the "farmers" using effective fencing and "weed killing pesticides" to protect our crops.

if the army says this is the biggest cache right now, that's the good thing isn't...

I know,you know:frog:

I don't want to derail the thread but just one question. Where there bigger hauls in Kashmir in 1989- 90s ? If yes, how big? Does anyone have any pics?
