The US is a two-faced, duplicitous, untrustworthy nation. They've stabbed many countries in the back several times, and I will believe this "stopping all aid" only when I see it.

More likely scenario: Porkis surrender 2-3 top Haqqani commanders and money starts flowing as usual. The match is fixed - India can expect NOTHING from the US, Porkistan or China.
How did you know what I was thinking? Are you a telepath? :confused1:

Delhi to construct 14,460 bunkers along IB, LoC in J&K

Construction work to be carried out directly by a central agency: Jitendra Singh

The proposed bunkers along the international border as well as the line of control in Jammu and Kashmir will now be constructed directly by a central agency like the central public works department or the national building construction corporation, union minister Jitendra Singh said on Monday.

The construction of these bunkers is being funded by the union home ministry, he said while briefing media about some “important” projects to be undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir and northeast areas during 2018. Jitendra thanked the home minister Rajnath Singh for having accepted the “request” to undertake the construction of bunkers along the IB and LoC in Jammu & Kashmir directly by a central agency in order to “avoid further delay and ensure efficiency and transparency.”

“The demand for construction of bunkers along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir had been consistently made by the BJP even when it was not in power either in the state or at the Centre,” he said, adding that the Modi government “promptly considered the demand for construction of community bunkers, but the local people residing along the borders also made a demand for individual bunkers.” “Finally, therefore, within the constraints of viability and feasibility, it was decided to have a combination of community bunkers as well as individual bunkers and to begin with, the union home ministry formally conveyed to the state government the sanction of Rs 415.73 crore for construction of 14,460 bunkers,” he said. Jitendra disclosed that the home ministry has written to the state government to submit a detailed list containing exact location of large community bunkers as well as a list of individual bunkers as per the conditions and norms laid down for the purpose. He requested the government to expedite its response so that the execution of the work could be carried forward at the earliest.

Great intiative by MOD its very important to work on more bunkers on war footing mode. soon if there are any refugee kinda mass movement in to our territory( in event of napaki destabilisation). we need more bunkers than bullets to check illegal.

Better to prepare from bottom to upward plan.

Probably only for the BSF. Most Army bunkers/pillboxes are made of RCC. However, there are many that are still constructed with sandbags which need to be replaced.

They should make dome-shaped fortifications which are virtually impervious to artillery fire and bombs/rockets, which will simply ricochet off the dome. What we have constructed are square and flat-roofed and therefore vulnerable to direct firing weapons and artillery.

Here's an example of a bunker made in Albania which proved to be very effective against enemy artillery and direct firing weapons and had good all round observation with wide arcs of fire.....

Dolam issue has given a much needed focus towards cheena.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NEW DELHI: The Indian Army has re-prioritised its next five year plan (2018-2023) to meet its operational requirements along India's frontier with China following the Dokalam standoff, said top army officers.

The emphasis will be on infrastructure development, including better roads and logistics, and capability enhancement, with more infantry weapons and night fighting, intelligence and surveillance equipment, senior army officials told ET on condition of anonymity.

Now, priority will be given to those schemes which will enhance the army's capabilities along the frontier—the Line of Actual Control (LAC) from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh and the International Boundary (IB) in east Sikkim. This has been done based on the experience gained from the Dokalam standoff, said army sources. In November 2017, the army brass decided that the 13th five-year plan, called Services Capital Acquisition Plan(SCAP), for 2018-2023 would be reprioritised in view of the lessons learnt from the Dokalam standoff, officials said. Each defence service has an SCAP for future modernisation based on emerging threats.

India and China engaged in a military standoff from June 16 to August 28 last year after the Indian Army moved into Dokalam to stop the Chinese troops from building a road in the territory claimed by both India's ally Bhutan and China. The standoff underscored that the Indian Army could not mobilise its artillery and additional ammunition near the site swiftly, due to lack of adequate road infrastructure, officials said.

"The standoff gave a greater push to our focus on China. It is not that the focus was not there earlier, but greater efforts are now being made militarily for our northern borders (LAC and IB)," an official said. This marks a shift from India's policy until the early 2000s, when the country had a Pakistan-centric military. With Pakistan gradually receding as a military threat, India is seeking to bridge the gap with China's growing military capabilities.

The budget outlay for the 13th plan is ₹1 lakh crore (₹20,000 crore per year). "But for the army to meet its requirements the defence budget will have to reach up to 3% of the GDP. But this is unlikely to happen and is expected to be 1.6% of the GDP," the official said.

Nonetheless, reprioritisation of the five-year plan will lead to an emphasis on infrastructure enhancement such as better roads, fuel storage facilities and troop accommodation, among other measures aimed at modernisation of the force, officials said.

Roads are the most important requirement in mountainous areas . ET had earlier reported that the construction of the 73 strategic India-China Border Roads (ICBR) had been fast-tracked post the standoff to ensure quick mobilisation of troops.

As an alternative to roads, India is also constructing 17 tunnels along the LAC to drastically reduce the distance to it and to ensure for all-weather connectivity. Besides, officials said, India will focus on strengthening its railway network and building advanced landing grounds and helipads.

All this will not only ensure faster mobility for troops stationed near the LAC but also allow the army's dual task formations (DTFs) to move from one theatre of war to another. Experts said India lacks sufficient dedicated airlift resources for the DTFs.

India has also stepped up its efforts to procure weapons for deployment along the frontier with China. These include procurement of 145 Ultralight Howitzers, and the Future Ready Combat Vehicles which is a replacement for the army's T-72 tanks and will be deployed along the LAC.

The army needs more surveillance equipment such as drones and electronic warfare resources, according to officials, who said India also needs more troops along the frontier with China.

The army's primary offensive formation against China, the Mountain Strike Corps, was started in 2013 and was to be completed by 2021. But it is expected to take another four to eight years for completion, owing possibly to paucity of funds, experts said. Along with this corps, one of the army's three strike corps which are poised against Pakistan can be turned into a DTF against China, they said.

Yes, we have such ____________ (censored) amongst us. And we have some people here, who speak in the same tone.

@Mikesingh bhai.
I agree that the Congress which was in power for over six and a half decades did little to enhance the combat capabilities of the Forces. Things have stared moving now but we need to fast track procurements and infrastructure.

However, I completely disagree with him (which we all will), that we have lost 3 wars against Pak! What was he smoking when he wrote this gem? He seems to be a Leftist moron of the pseudo secular brigade!! Or a knucklehead who's lost most of his brain cells. Jeeez!

Relax buddy! There's going to be no war! These bunkers which will be constructed are for added protection against mortar/arty shelling and other direct firing weapons during ceasefire violations which will continue through 2018 unless there's a breakthrough in relations with Pak which is highly unlikely and thus the need to be prepared for the long haul.

So, sip a cold beer, get hold of some popcorn and/or mutton kababs and relax! Nothing's gonna happen! :biggrin2:

Not in the immediate term. Today's war will take decades of preparations, research, building manufacturing infrastructure and mass manufacture

This is the problem we Indians have. Defeatist attitude. Rehne dijiye. Chalta hai. First time some local pig has done fidayeen attack, so chalta hai. Have you done a total of our soldiers getting killed this year. Just check for last 10 years. The figure will be in thousands. I repeat we have lost this unconventional war to Pakistan. Now people are begging to Trump to take action against Pakistan. Sad state of defeatist attitude.
No we don't, we are making Pakistan pay for it already, there's been sharp surge on number of Pakistan soldiers killed at LoC.

And no, this isn't chalta hai attitude,
