Their hopes are held intact because during the last 1 year, Russia did not gain much ground even when the funding to Ukraine had dried up.Western think tanks and media are producing a lot of vidhwa vilaap articles like this even though Ukraine is still alive for now.
You'd think they continue to give the country #PhullSapportSaaar till a Russian flag flies atop Kiev and then write the obituaries but then these are the "Western allies" after all.
Ukraine will pay in blood to learn the lesson the South Vietnam regime, the Kurds and the ANA govt learnt.
Israel is also learning this lesson slowly now.
They hope that Ukraine would cause lot of damage to Russia in the current offensive as the shells and money have started to flow in again.
They don't have any hope of Ukrainian offensive till 2025 (that too depending on the current Russian offensive outcome)
