It began when Russia'n oil giants started uniting Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina in some sort of united grouping based on oil (just like OIC but without pisslam), the US saw red and decided to teach these nations a lesson. Check their responses towards Argentina with respect to financial defaults. The CIA is trying to using all the card it has to mess with these nations. These protests are not spontaneous, they bought the media, planted news of a corrupt PM in the media, demonized her, then NGOs started gathering people for a systematic coup. All of this has been happening since 5 years, what we see today is just the culmination of US efforts. If Brazil survives this treacherous attack, it will go on to strengthen BRICS and hurt American interests in the larger sense. This is important for all parties involved, US, Brazil, BRICS grouping and every individual nation withing that grouping.
Wow, just checked; Venezuela has the largest oil reserves apparently, even greater than the friendly humanitarian Saudis.
Now we know why amerika and others are interested in this area.

Watch out guys democrazy and freedoom fries are on the way.

In fact Venezuelan polity has been on the rocks since the last ruler Chavez died of Cancer(hmm, where have we heard that before?) and Maduro his successor took over. Lots of protests from freedom lovers and democracy fans of Venezuela. Somehow Maduro has stuck on.

I guess Brazil has military problem, they need to develop weapons.
Yet in world happiness report, Brazil ranks 18th, in the league of many rich and developed nations.

Brazil is like a stable Europe in front of much powerful but unstable, Soviet Union like countries China and India.
So, Brazil gonna be successful in long run. :)
We are strengthening ourselves. The economical growth during the Lula government had benefited the defense budget also. Brazil has acquired 2.044 Guarani APCs to substitute our aged APCs Carcará and Urutu models, 4 submarines and now just signed the purchase of 36 SAAB Gripen fighters to substitute the aged Mirage III. We are modernizing our Armed Forces respecting the limits of our possibilities.

Successful in long run? This is what Brazilians repeat everyday. "Brazil is the country of future" we like to say. But this future never arrives. And it will never arrive while our social, educational and cultural problems dont be solved. Asiatic people are more disciplined, dedicated and serious than Brazilians. What were India and South Korea in the '80s? They were more backward than Brazil at that time, but today they surpassed Brazil, because their governments have invested and their people corresponded these investments. At general, Brazilians dont like to read, to study, dont like of the Letters.

Man, please don't get dumed by Western Propaganda.
India was known as a poor $hithole some decades ago, now, those Americans have to come to India for medical treatment.
Here's case of us Asians, just decade of 90s proved to Boon for us. It was our Golden Era. :peace:
Brazil is suffering from an economic crisis which is affecting entire South America. It will recover too.
What do you think? How would Americans feel when Brazil launches it's nuclear submarine. They will start Argentina etc. countries to neutralize Brazil.
You guys are blessed with natural resources. You'll get a golden era too.
:)
By the way, please don't take my lines over strategic perspective.
India and Brazil may be together in BRICS.
:brazil::india:
But we are against each other in many strategic aspects. From your closer relationship with China :china: to your sympathy with our lovely, adorable and most peaceful nation of world: The Pakistan. :pak: and pak isn't our rival, they are enemies.
I guess we have no coconfrontations with Latin and South American Nations as they are likely to remain neutral in any Global Conflict but if they do and are in opposite league.
:devious:

What do you mean by "cultural" problems?
Can you give examples?

Just putting in context,

However, it would be very difficult for Brazil to save herself from the American onslaught. First, America itself is a stone's throw away. Next, American satellite states in South America would make life very difficult for Brazil. Furthermore, Brazil doesn't have defensive capabilities like India, Russia & China. These three countries, even if they have a desire to help, are a hemisphere away from Brazil.
Does Brazil have any plans to go nuclear?
Brazil dont has nuclear ambitions. Our Constitution forbids the country to develop nuke, chemical or biological weapons. We signed the NPT, and both South America and South Atlantic zone were declared free nuclear weapons zones.

Our nuclear activities limits to pacific use o nuclear energy - Brazil has two nuclear plants and are building a third - as well as the nulcear submarine project.

But even our nuclear activity has not escaped from the investigations of 'Lava Jato Operation', this same that are trying to jail former President Lula, because one of first targets indicated of corruption were the Brazilian nuclear program father scientist and the company that are building the dockyard for the making of nuclear submarine.

Unlike G7 BRICS seems sliding into obilivion bit by bit. Apart from tough struggles in economic slump or political turmoils members seem to lack any common goals or causes. Even on a non-issue like climate change BRICS is short of a shared agenda, needless to mention serious matters like forming a substantial economic bloc or UNSC reforms.

The leftist / populist regime of Rouseff / Lula is very likely to end up another Chavez / Maduro duo.
