But isn't it a weird news ,their tracks are of low strength and even poor design , so they will have to rebuild the rail infra to support such speeds .

News is totally bogus. Much like the whole CPEC. It's the geenwash for aam Abdul. They will loot all the land for it , build it too late with substandard system if ever actually build ( Salma dam case in point). And then the chinese dictated tarrif would put it out if reach of 99.9 porkistani hence making it financially unviable but only after milking it thoroughly.

I was just pointing out that what they wanna achieve is beyond their reach , they will have to import each and every screw for it , even the tracks , the sleepers .

I think one should read trains as coaches. 230 coaches of 160 kmph standard in different configuration.
At 12_14 coaches in each train it would make 20 trains. Not bad if we consider Pakistan has only one arterial line. But it needs to be upgraded for 160 kmph operation. That upgradation is proposed under CPEC.

What are the economic coaches, is what I want to find out. If it is non-AC,with open windows, then it is difficut to run them at 160 kmph. IR isn't able to run non AC open windows LHB coaches at 160 kmph.

Looking at the render in the tweet, it probably would be LHB equivalent for PAK.

Until the tracks are upgraded to 160 kmph under CPEC, they will be speed limited like LHB in IR network.
