Damage has been done, cancelling one seminar is like a slap on the face of pakistan, after US made world realize the plight of Balochs! More such seminars will happen, and will continue to happen against the terrorists of pakjab!
How did usa made the world realize plight of baloch people when for 60 odd years usa itself was silent supporter of it for only reason PA was serving its interest.such was the the case that so called self appointed champion of human rights and freedom usa didnt even squeak at the killings of bengalis. And now when pakistan realised usa's duplicity and stopped supporting usa in its unjust WOT(crusade) against muslims, it has started shouting from roof top about balochi people.

Re: US cancels Balochistan seminar to avoid worsening of ties

The Dawn article posted by ajtr is so self-serving that it is comic.

But it has piqued my interest to the point that I will be emailing my congressional representative today to ask for an explanation.
No your support for baloch terrorist again pakistani people is self serving and comic as was your support to kashmiri whom u called freedom fighters in 1990s against india was self-serving that time and now they siply became terrorists for you.You americans are one hell of a lota.

I would try to respond if you were to take more time and care to frame your responses.

I have just sent an email to Congressman David Price. I will share his response on DFI.

That's exactly my point Genius!

Times have changed, now US knows that to kill terrorism, pakjabi army has to be dismantlement in due time! NOW they are FLEXING their Muscles, results will soon follow. No one gives a hoot that pakjab was lapdog of US and now on the crossroads to obliteration! Bloch independence is just a starting node for the process under way!

Why not the same ?

Pakistan intends to invite Hurriyat leaders for talks. Now our foreign policy mandarins why can't come up with something similar.Unless we invite Baloch and Sindhi separatist leaders openly,Pakistan is not going to stop this "political, diplomatic & moral" support.More over the Hurriyat fellows should not be given visa.

A Punjabi talking about Baloch rights!

How about we ask this Punjabi what he knows about the Baloch and how many does he know who were actually involved for the freedom struggle, which has now turned into a rights struggle? (as all Baloch sardars have joined the political parties and army institutions)

I find it to be the most hilarious thing when I see Punjabis talk about Baloch rights when they haven't a clue about Baluch people, never befriended them, got to know them or lived amongst them.

What does he know about the Baloch people? Does he know about their rights in Sistan va Baluchestan, Oman or even Bahrain where they are the entire Bahrain police force (from the Pakistani side)?

Even worse is the Indians trying to start working on this cause, on a lowly forum, which has absolutely no impact even in India, let alone Pakistani Baluchestan where the so-called Sarmachars or socialist fighters are in the mountains without internet access

BREAKING NEWS: No Baluch is being influenced by the internet and they are not looking for your websites in the internet :pound:

ANOTHER ONE: They have a tribal system that none of you understand and goes beyond religious affiliation. The speaker of Baluchistan assembly was once a Hindu from Dera Bugti and there are Sikhs there, as well.

ONE MORE: When a Sardar says no to something, no matter where Baloch are, they accept what he says. Mengal said no, so even bloggers and journalists promoting the Baluch struggle (that I was following very closely because I support Baluch rights) just disappeared.

LAST BREAKING NEWS (of today): Baluch do not need your help or anyone's help for that matter. If they want freedom, they can get it in 24 hours as they have said on television on many occasions. But, they will not do it because they have too much at stake and have the most open system available to them unlike Iran's Baluchestan.

Pakistan Plays With Fire And Gets Burned

Pakistan's policy of tolerating, and often supporting and encouraging, Islamic radicalism continues to manifest itself in a lot of dead civilians and security personnel. The war in Baluchistan (southwest Pakistan) is getting very personnel for the security forces. On August 8th, a terrorist suicide bomber attacked a funeral for a policeman in the provincial capital. The main targets were senior police commanders and several were killed. Most of the 40 dead were lower ranking police. Terrorist violence is setting records this year in Baluchistan and it has nothing to do with the Taliban and everything to do with tribal and religious tensions that have existed in the area since before Pakistan was created after World War II.

While these attacks on police get a lot of media attention, the growing incidence of government tolerated terrorism is largely ignored in the media. This is the anti-Shia violence, which the government is less concerned about. What does get the attention of the security forces is the separatist unrest involving Baluchi tribesmen. All this takes place in southwest Pakistani province of Baluchistan. In the last decade over 4,200 terrorist deaths have occurred in Baluchistan (population eight million), with about a third of them in Quetta (population 900,000), the provincial capital. The death rate is increasing. Last year there were 954 terrorism related deaths last year, compared to 711 in 2011, 347 in 2010, and 277 in 2009. Worse, less than ten percent of the deaths were terrorists, most were civilians (72 percent last year and 76 percent in 2011). Most (over 80 percent) of these deaths were not the result of the usual (anti-Shia, anti-government) terrorists but civilians the army suspected of being Baluchi rebels or supporters. These people just disappeared, although their bodies sometimes showed up eventually. This secret war against Baluchi rebels is largely driven by desperate efforts to halt the attacks on the natural gas pipelines. The government sponsored campaign against the tribal rebels has not been stopping the attacks. The government is under increasing pressure to call off the illegal police and army kidnappings and murders. The intimidation has not worked and the Baluchi tribes are even more determined to gain a measure of autonomy and freedom from government-sponsored terrorism.

Meanwhile, the war between Sunni and Shia Moslems is most violent in Pakistan, especially in Baluchistan. Last year there were 113 terrorist attacks against Shia in Pakistan, leaving about 400 Shia dead. The Sunni radicals responsible for this violence have been at it for decades, but it has gotten worse since al Qaeda came along in the 1990s. Nearly half of the attacks occurred in Baluchistan, where the majority Baluchis have come out publicly against the Sunni Islamic terrorists who are killing Shia. Most of the killers in Baluchistan are not Baluchi, and that's another reason for the Baluchi to be hostile to the government supported terrorists.

Only 10-15 percent of Moslems are Shia. Most (about 80 percent) of the rest are Sunni, and many of them consider Shia heretics. In several countries there is constant violence between Shia and Sunni radicals. In Pakistan, about 15 percent of the population is Shia and these Shia are becoming increasingly loud in their demands that the government do something about the terror attacks on them.

would love to hear comments by @Haman10 @Neo and @datguy on this "Greater Balochistan" which straddles Iran Pakistan and Afghanistan. India clearly has a role behind the scenes.
