Obama's reputation, or the threat posed to the US by the White House
The foreign policy being pursued by Barack Obama is detrimental to the United States. This conclusion was drawn by prominent American politicians. They recognize that they fail to understand the actions of the president on the international scene :cb:. And the anti-Russian sanctions initiated by Washington undermine the entire system of international relations.
The results of the recent visit of the American president in Beijing have raised a number of questions by the observers. In particular, the American politician and lawyer Judson Phillips is convinced that Barack Obama has not earned any benefit for his country from this trip. For example, the US leader has agreed with President Xi Jinping on mutual reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Not all in the United States understand why America needs this treaty or many other agreements concluded by the president, says Phillips. He points out that the US leader is continuing to sign documents that are unfavorable for the country.
Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger admitted the mistake of the West in the Ukrainian crisis in an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel. "Crimea is a special case," says Kissinger, "and if the West wants to be honest, it must admit that it has made a mistake. Ukraine has always had a special significance for Russia. And not understanding this was a fatal mistake.":banghead: The diplomat warned of the danger of a new Cold War between Russia and the West. He criticized Washington for initiating the sanctions against Russia.
One could ask what relations do Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya have with the national interests of the United States? And, for that matter,Ukraine as well? All these countries are on other continents. But Washington has to mess with everything, primarily because it is confident about its exclusiveness, assumes the deputy director of the Institute of USA and Canada Pavel Zolotarev:
[Comment: West is sober ?!!!!!]
"The goal that they had set for themselves in the middle of the 1990s was to retain the status of the US as a global leader at least until 2015. They assume that global stability can be maintained only if the US will play the role of the world policeman.:bathbaby: And this goal remains today a major factor in the US foreign policy. Over the years, new threats to the interests of the States have emerged due to the formation of new centers of power. And this has raised a second-range plan: to keep global leadership and to slow down, as far as possible, the development of these new centers of power."
So much for the global goal. At the same time, in each country the United States have set for themselves tactical tasks, says the general director of the Russian Council on Foreign Affairs Andrei Kortunov.
If we talk about Ukraine, it seems to me that the main task of the United States is to demonstrate that they are the leaders of the Western world, that the United States take responsibility for fixing the Western position in Europe. Apart from that, there are applied interests also: to realign global energy markets in its favor, and to encourage Europeans to buy US shale gas. And, of course, to strengthen NATO and to force the European members of the alliance to allocate more funds to support this organization
As far as the relations with Russia are concerned, it has been a long-term systemic failure of the Russian-American dialogue and lack of normal cooperation between Russia on the one and NATO and the EU on the other. By pursuing this aggressive policy, the United States is creating problems for its allies and for the United States too.
Robert Gates, a former CIA director, said recently: "the most serious threat to US national security now comes from two square miles covering the White House and Capitol Hill." That is the reputation of the American president and his team in his own country today.
