This is not good news for India.
Definitely not if these so called sources are reliable.

Sources say that since the offer, Bhutan has toned down its allegations that China is violating its territorial claims.

When External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met with her Bhutanese counterpart, Damcho Dorji, on Aug. 11 on the sidelines of a regional meeting, she told Dorji not to be betrayed by China, asking further that Bhutan retain its alliance with India. Dorji, however, only said that he hoped the standoff would be resolved peacefully and amicably, refraining from any comment that would provoke China.

Bhutanese king allow democracy and bring the bureaucracy which can be easily manipulated from foreign nation ...how stupid UPA was to allow these things to happen .

Though Bhutan is't lost , rumors of "tonedown on standoff" surely suggest softcorner for money and china exist in political spectrum , not necessarily from king , we need to keep an eye on parties of Bhutan , many tibetan refugees live there , we don't know how many are han agent or spy .

It's for both our security and security of Royal family

The current king has only one wife, his father had married four sisters.

10 billion dollars is a helluva money, but I don't think Bhutan now can do a complete volte-face and say that Doklam was never in their claims.

They can surely try to relinquish their claim on that area in return of 10 billion and some land in another region, and in that scenario, we might have no option left other than to pull out.

Though we can still say about the agreement referring to involvement of all three nations on tri-junction disputes, but even our own nation will be divided on that.

I don't think pulling out will be termed as a loss of face in domestic or international media, but it will be tough then for us to hold on to Tawang.

But, where will Bhutan sell its electricity then? Chinese settlements are too far away.

What if they actually put in plan to use these ships to crash on our Warships and damage them and put them out of action ...
No self-respecting warship allows a cargo barge to come anywhere within striking distance of it, especially when guns drawn and safety off. Couple of warnings, then BOOM. Cargo on ocean floor.

The royal family still holds complete power over bhutanese citizens. He also holds veto power. Nothing will happen as long as the king is not swayed.

Chinese are using Sam, Dam, Dand Bhed policy. They tried persuade failed, tried creating difference between India and Bhutan, failed, trying now buying them.

I hope Bhutanese king is not swayed by $ 10 billion and promises of bigger land elsewhere.

They should remember that if India pulls out of Bhutan, they will be another Tibet and they should remember the persecution of lamas in Tibet.

In case Bhutanese king is swayed, we publicize it in whole world. Bhutanese king will be responsible. It will not impact India's reputation as whole world would know Chinese bought Bhutanese king. We pull out of Bhutan and let them get into debt trap of Chinese.

Who says we need Bhutanese approval to save Bhutan? This is not charity, we cannot put our own country at risk. China is just going to find out they spent $10 billion dollars to get a firm "fuck off" from India. The same thing they could have gotten for free without spending a dime. :)

what are You smoking Bro ??
in the case of war they will send their navy to attack on south India .......................so blocking of malacca strait is necessary to stop their invasion .
also we have more than 5 million tonnes of underground crude oil storage which can be used for many Months in the case of war ..

www.economictimes.com/industry/energy/oil-gas/india-to-commission-5-mt-underground-oil-storages-by-october/articleshow/46073393.cms

Hitting Indian Navy ship by Chinese cargo ships ?? :pound::pound::pound:

Lol , they will spread mines around Malacca strait & our navy ships are armed each unknown Incoming ship will be destroyed in the case of war .

Malacca strait is other country's property . I don't think we could easily Plant mines in others country's territorial sea and economic zone. The only possibility is that we can play with the exit area coming into international waters from Malacca.
And there are other countries too carrying cargoes there. If we are choosing Chinese shipment than we have to be choosy in containing Chinese only.
If we could really dictate some terms in malacca strait, we should be holding some sort of assets there, like ports or at least a contract or a deal with the countries there.
I don't know if we do or even Chinese for that matter.

As you pointed out, the mallaca straits open into Indian territory, i.e any vessel coming out of Mallaca straits is in India's sphere.

That will be pretty desperate of China, coming through Malacca to attack IN. Might happen when we will take Lhasa.:india:

PLAN is not going to attack IN in Indian Ocean, and IN is not going to attack PLAN in South China Sea, at least not without allies.

We need to concentrate on North-East and North-West.

Binnaguri, Hasimara, Sukna, Kalimpong... they won't dare to come through Sikkim.
