Indian Army kills five Pakistani soldiers in LoC strike

The Indian Army’s special forces in Kashmir on Wednesday eliminated a Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT) of five enemy soldiers, a government official said.

The offensive was conducted along the Line of Control in the Muzaffarabad sector by the Army’s Para (special forces), the official said on condition of anonymity. BAT is a special Pakistani army unit conducting cross-border operations.

“General Bipin Rawat has given the go-ahead to the Para (SF) to conduct a search and elimination operation of BAT teams of Pakistan. Heightened low-grade warfare is likely to take place this summer,” a government official said on condition of anonymity.

On 1 May, BAT raided the Krishna Ghati sector at the border, killing and mutilitating two Indian soldiers. Following this, the Indian Army on 22 May launched a series of punitive assaults on Pakistan bunkers, and released a video documenting another set of assaults on Pakistan bunkers in the Naushera sector. The government official quoted above said assaults will continue through summer.

“The army will be targeting bunkers. We will not wait for more of our men to die along the border or for more soldiers to be mutilated by Pakistan before we take action,” the official added.

While the Army did not officially clarify this, it stated that assaults were part of a “routine exercise.”

“These are routine things. They keep happening. Things have not escalated because it’s part of a routine exercise,” Army spokesperson Ashok Narula said.

While the Army revived cordon and search operations (CASO) in Shopian in Kashmir to flush out terrorists from the Valley, after a gap of 15 years, a defence official said the “army was going back to its methodology of the 1990s, with a more sophisticated approach.”

While General Rawat on Sunday asserted that the Indian Army was fighting a “dirty war” in Kashmir, referring to stone-pelters attacking troops, defence minister Arun Jaitley on 24 May gave the Army full authority to carry out operations in Kashmir as they deemed fit.

Nothing on TV channels till now! Something doesn't add up. This would have been on TV as headlines with continuous tickers running below the screen! But zilch so far.

No word from the Army too. I'll take this news of 5 Porkis killed with a pinch of salt till then.

Two terrorists killed by armed forces in Kashmir’s Sopore

Jun 01, 2017 | 08:00 IST | SOURCE : Times Now

Jammu and Kashmir:

It has been learnt that two terrorists have been killed by the Indian armed forces in a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police. The operation started at around 2.45 am and ended with the execution of the soldiers at 6.45 am.

Sources said that the gunfight between forces and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) terrorists started after Intel was received about the movement of miscreants in the region.

As mentioned earlier, a joint team of army and police were led into the Nathipora area, after receiving specific Intel about the location of the terrorists. Before the terrorists were finally killed, they had taken refuge in a house in the area.

However, after a long gun battle, the two terrorists have been gunned down, but operations are still on in the area to ensure that all the militants are eliminated.

GREF personnel killed in Pakistan ceasefire violation in Poonch

Two other have been injured; Ceasefire violation also along LoC in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir
Personnel belonging to the General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF) were killed and two others were injured in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Thursday.

Pakistan troops shellied mortars and opened fire on forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, drawing retaliation from Indian troops.

The exchange of fire was going on when last reports came in.

“Pakistan Army resorted to mortar shelling and firing on forward posts along the LoC in Nowshera sector in Rajouri district from 0730 hours,” a Defence spokesman said.

Pakistan troops also opened fire along the LoC in Krishnagati sector of Poonch district from 0740 hours, he said.

“The Indian Army posts are retaliating strongly and effectively and the firing is presently on,” he said.

On May 17, the Pakistan Army fired on forward posts along the LoC in Balakote Sector in Rajouri district.

The Pakistan Army had shelled forward areas and civilian belts along the LoC in Rajouri district on May 15 and 16.

The firing and shelling by the Pakistan Army in May this year has affected over 12,000 people.

The Pakistani Army had on May 13 pounded civilian areas and forward posts along the LoC in Nowshera area with mortars, killing two civilians and injuring three.
