Tamil Nadu seems to be competing with UP as the most backward and non-progressive state in the country. At the moment they have their priorities all mixed up.

1) Supporting LTTE,
2) Antagonizing SL into cozying up with the pukes and the chinese
3) Record corruption scandals
4) Vandalism that is stopping the progress of the nation

and the worst of all - false pride tamil nationalism that is breeding secessionist groups. and this is coming from the top political parties. what a disgrace of a state which has in the past produced some of the best thinkers of our country.

Get your facts right TN is 4th largest contributor to the Indian economy.

All vote bank politics and sympathising politics

China
and don't forget SL's help to Pakistan in 1971

3) Record corruption scandals
Thanks only to the last political rule

4) Vandalism that is stopping the progress of the nation
Source, or this is bluff

and the worst of all - false pride tamil nationalism that is breeding secessionist groups. and this is coming from the top political parties. what a disgrace of a state which has in the past produced some of the best thinkers of our country.

Fuel loading begins in Kudankulam Nuclear plant | NDTV.com

Chennai: India's atomic energy regulator on Friday said it has given its nod to Nuclear Power Corporation Ltd (NPCIL) to load enriched uranium fuel rods in the first reactor at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP).

"We have given the nod to NPCIL to load the fuel at KNPP on Tuesday. NPCIL has completed the stipulations that we had earlier laid in our August 10 sanction to load the fuel," Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) chairman S.S. Bajaj told IANS from Vienna, where he is attending the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conference.

According to him, it would take around 8-10 days for NPCIL to complete the fuel loading process.

Huge sigh of relief.

Anti-KKNPP protesters try to lay siege to Tuticorin port
Scaling up their protest against loading of fuel at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, anti-nuclear activists and fishermen on Saturday tried to lay siege to the port at Tuticorin, but work was not disrupted, officials said.

About 3,000 fishermen and anti-nuclear activists in 500 mechanised and country boats tried to block the approach channel where ships enter the port but were prevented by Coast Guard and CISF personnel, CISF and port authorities said.

The protesters remained in the sea, shouting slogans against central and state governments asking them to stop loading of fuel at the plant, which began on Wednesday, they said. Port activities have not been disrupted, they added.

Meanwhile, a group of anti-nuclear activists organised a human chain in Tuticorin town.

The heightened protests come against the backdrop of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board giving its final clearance for loading of fuel in the first unit of the Indo-Russian joint venture on Tuesday.

'Peoples Movement Against Nuclear Energy,' spearheading the over year-long stir, had given the call on September 20 to fishermen to stall port activities at Tuticorin, Kanyakumari, Rameswaram and Chennai on Septemeber 22.

PMANE, whose leader S P Udayakumar is evading arrest with a non-bailable warrant against him in a case relating to the anti-nuclear stir, has also given a call to picket central government offices in the state on September 25.

On September 10, the anti-nuclear stir took a violent turn leading to the death of a fishermen in police firing at Tuticorin.

The first unit was earlier scheduled to be commissioned in December last year but the continuing protests delayed it.

Sniping at Yanks is a favorite DFI sport after all, but Chomsky's comparing nuclear risks with MIC production is just stupid.

Re: Noam Chomsky supports Kudankulam protesters

Why is it that people who are the least knowledgeable about nuclear power and its generation are on the forefront of this movement? I understand an Andrei Sakharov speaking against nuclear weapons and people listening to him. What I do not understand is what and who is Noam Chomsky to be educating people about these things? As it is, he has bothered us enough, those learning 'Automata and Formal Languages' with his stupid and almost mindless hypotheses. Now he is quipping about nuclear power. Why does he not do the world a favour and shut up?
