So indian municipal babooze are actually capable of building proper footpaths. Those footpaths are what you see in every main road in most serious countries like in europe, east asia etc. Why can't they standardise this as a base and build such footpaths on every main road?

There used to be an adventure sport - the Himalayan Car rally earlier which then ceased. Here every journey will be the equivalent of a Himalayan Car Rally. But at the same time one of the worst Road and driving etiquette! Another issue is that outside rural and inner city also most roads are one lane each side only.
This cause lot of issues in Kerala and road accidents due to overtaking on single lane is quite common.

Driving in Kerala is very tiresome. Both on highways and in urban/rural areas.
Roads are too narrow and finding a parking is a pain.
The moment you enter Kerala from TN/KA, you will notice the difference.
