Thank You Myanmar for the co operation in anti terror activities ..... Hope to see the region prosper and develop !
May be there are some racism towards NE people, although I hardly ever saw any such thing in Kolkata. In Kolkata my family lives in a area which has quite high no. of NE people living due to proximity to IT sector where they are mostly employed. They are taken just as any outsider would with little taunting may be, which even the Biharis or UPwala or Southies face in Kolkata. Heck, I have faced mild heckle and being called Bong outside of Kolkata, being stereotyped, and such, which if you go deeper into the context, is racist. So, does Chinki, but I do believe most of the people who call the term doesn't actually think NE people as chinese but some phenotype which vaguely resembles mongoloid forms. Heck, I was called Chinki due to my facial structure which IMHO is nowhere near chinese, though may have some connection to NE or mongoloid phenotype as my mom's family hails from the part of BDesh which is closer to Tripura (can't remeber the district name). It is not limited to Manipur rather the whole NE - Arunachal, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. Assamese and Manipuris are widespread across India due to their thrust for Higher Education.
We prefer to call ourselves Indians rather than calling "We are as much as the citizen of India like others.
No administration can curb racism. It comes from within. The day we start respecting each-other, racism will be gone.
Ok would check and I like such info/pic based coverage.Actually TOI had an excellent coverage of the strikes and also a special feature about Madras Sappers. Check it out.

There will always be some morons in the society who would continue such things, you just cannot wish them away. But, ignore them and you will find none actually considers you anything but equal in every terms. Well, you can leave out the 'delhites' out of this none.

Ha ha silly farticle, certainly not the first such op on any foreign soil, these peeps need to dig up their history. Small SF units have always been involved in ops against NE groups.FOUR BIG FIRSTS ABOUT ARMY'S MYANMAR OPERATION
The attack was in response to the deadly ambush in Manipur that killed 18 soldiers on June 4
The Indian Army"s strike inside Myanmar which killed nearly 20 North-Eastern insurgents was a first of its kind operation conducted by the Army on foreign soil.
The Indian Army deployed an Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopter and a commando team from the 21 Para (special forces) unit for the attack.
Here are Four big Firsts you need to know about the strike -
1. This is Indian Army's first "hot pursuit" operation in the eastern sector.
2. It is also the first joint commando operation by Indian Army and Indian Air Force on any foreign soil.
3. It is also the first "seek and destroy" attack officially acknowledged by the Army. The Indian Army acted on specific and precise intelligence inputs to hunt down terrorists.
4.The operation witnessed Special Forces's first direct action against North-East militant groups.
Elite commandos of the army went a few kilometers inside Myanmar territory to destroy two camps of insurgents hiding there after attacks in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh last week by NSCN(K) and KYKL outfits.

though the first one to have raised this matter against burqaraani on her passionate gaffe of 2008, was sadly shot down by her. That was a good shot.... it's good to see people e-slapping people like BURKA DUTTA.
This BURKA DUTTA is a traitor and working for anti-Indian forces.
If my 93% English score in my 12th boards, and my love for the Chicago manual of style serves me well, the term "casualty" is used when you sympathise with those who fell in the battlefield. It doesn't surprise me that NDTV would use that term. You might sleep tight tonight. NDTV , Burkha says that army sources say that casualty is indeed 50+.
Saar, college and work place agreed. What about getting abused on road from those you are not linked in anyway? If the intention is good and reference is affectionate, it is a non issue. Those things happens ie. a different person in a group of same looking people in different region.
By experiences(college and work) I can say that such thing happens everywhere but after a while such thing decreases when the person is intermingled and becomes part of the group. It's more like ragging at first.
After Indira Gandhi came to power the North Westerners and the Westerners occupied all the power centres and corridors in Delhi, leaving nothing for the others. South Indian states were fortunate enough for having access to sea and a better climate (less number of natural calamities), while the Eastern and North Eastern States were left to suffer. All NE people have similar grievances including me. Integration is the key. GoI is trying it for long but lacks the real will.
Manipuris are very hardworking and honest. They are doing great in every field (Sports, Medical Science, Engineering et al). It is ok and we understand the difficulties in bringing development to NE but is not acceptable(humiliating) if people call us Chinkis/Chi**om if we travel to other parts of the country and even attack us only because we belong to NE.
I hope some Chinese and Paki is also butchered in the operation.100 is a decent figure, hope the operation will continue. GoI must ensure that these militants do not get the chance to regroup again. Security forces must pursue local links and eliminate them. Hats off to GoI and IA & IAF.
Socio-economic conditions in BIMARU states are worse than those of North East. But playing the victim card is not an answer and neither is sedition. The great economic and social divide between East and West is not natural, it is a creation of central government's policies. Sometimes I feel that Eastern and Central states might have been much better off had these states been not part of the Indian Union. At least the locals would have controlled the natural resources and local might have benefited. And people of these states would not have to suffer daily humiliation of being called "Bhayya", "Chinki" etc.
Highly possible. PLA has some observation posts along NE border. So a common facility can not be overruled. Some one mentioned that a retired PLA officer is running Arms factory in that area.I hope some Chinese and Paki is also butchered in the operation.
You guys should vote in lalu and blame rest of India for rigging the elections by infiltrating your state and voting in crappy leaders.
Central Government's policies like "Freight Equalization" led to exploitation of mineral rich states and the people of these states, particularly Bihar, Orissa, Assam and Madhya Pradesh. Natural calamities and government's apathy took the rest away. People of Bihar (including Jharkhand), MP were forced into hard labour in mines, their land taken, while the states received nothing from the sale of the natural resources.

With the help of regular army or assets? The Army has done this across LoC in J&K as well. Such actions are never publicized or officially acknowledged.
I hope some Chinese and Paki is also butchered in the operation.
Here is the confirmed news. Chinese pussy behind it for sure.Highly possible. PLA has some observation posts along NE border. So a common facility can not be overruled. Some one mentioned that a retired PLA officer is running Arms factory in that area.
Two shadowy operators — a Chinese gunrunner and a Myanmarese businessman — have emerged as key players in the deadliest attack on an Army convoy in Manipur last week. Just a day before the ambush on 6 Dogra Regiment last week, chatter from Myanmar, intercepted by Central intelligence agencies, had hinted at the ultras’ plan to carry out a terror strike.
One of the intercepted conversations, intelligence officials said, alleged featured a retired Colonel of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Muk Yan Pau Huang, who is responsible for providing arms and ammunition to ultras and is learnt to be working closely with Tin Ying, a Myanmarese businessman who recently set up an arms factory at the China-Myanmar border.
It was analysed and shared with all agencies, including the Army. Prior to this June 3 intelligence report, various intercepts were analysed by the agencies, which revealed that the sidelined National Socialist Council of Nagaland, Khaplang (NSCN-K) faction was trying to get assistance from Chinese and Myanmarese actors to re-activate its camps at Suruhoto in Zunheboto and Mon in Myanmar.
Ying, intelligence officials said, is a former member of the Burmese Communist Party and Huang is one of his closest aides. Huang is said to be overseeing the day-to-day activities of Ying’s factory. “Ying and Huang persuaded S S Khaplang, who is said to be seriously ill, to walk out of the ceasefire. Chatters indicated that Khaplang was assured of Chinese support if he decides against the ceasefire and continues militant activity in the Northeast,” intelligence officials said.
In one of the intercepts, two serving Chinese PLA officials were also netted. Officials said one of the reasons for frequent communication between them could be the fact that Khaplang’s militant outfit has more Myanmarese cadre than Nagas and the numbers are dwindling.
“Former Chinese PLA Colonel, Huang is learnt to have played a major role by funding several splinter groups now based in Myanmar and helping Khaplang clinch a ceasefire with the Myanmar government. Khaplang, according to a recent input, is seriously ill and to ensure his hold on the outfit recently expelled two senior ultra cadre, Wangtin Naga and V Tikhak,” officials added.
In May, an input had suggested that NSCN-K had launched mobile battalions in the border areas and subsequently a tip-off had resulted in a security operation by Assam Rifles in old Sallang in Changlang district, in which forces had destroyed NSCN-K camp. “The arms recovered on May 19 were being supplied by Chinese. The documents linked the outfit to two other bases at Sagaing and Kachin provinces of Myanmar.
While forging a tie with Chinese, informers claimed that ULFA military wing chief Paresh Barua also played a role in convincing Khaplang,” officials said.
