:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
if they need to have affairs aren't there enough indian women or have all of us indian females bcom extinct!!!!
Don't believe what army tells you..Don't get me in wrong way..No one fells for honey trap that too for a FB profile..He could have contacted the enemy some other way.But Intel agencies don't want you to get the true story. But they cant hide the news of arrest either. So honey trap story fits the bill.

i like to believe our govt or army does not lie to us. this case fine...what abt other cases; once a naval officer was honey trapped thereby ruining a deal with russia for us. the press had published the "compromising"pics as well....this happened some yrs back.

i know not all r like that but its not fair to lie to us like this since we r a proud democracy and all. i absolutely like to believe that our officers r all patriots and dont sell us ovr like that but of course bad eggs r in all spheres of life. we all r mature enough (xcept lutyens and co) to accept there r bad guys in armed forces as well. afterall we read cases like that of colonel shekhawat whose career is getting messed up for doing the right thing! and one of the guys who fucked up his ACR is now promoted as head of eastern command.

Not sure if this was posted here. Thought provoking, will share my comments but first a snippet:

The Special Group’s two battalions (1200–1500 personnel), are a part of the shadowy Establishment-22 or the Special Frontier Force, SFF, which is under the operational command of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). By virtue of not being under the Ministry of Defence, the SFF, let alone the SG, are seldom discussed in the Parliament. Almost all their missions, to date, are classified. As are their ranks.
So there are indeed 2 SG units

I think what he meant was SFF's two SF unit ie Mavericks and Archers.

There is only 1 Maverick unit i guess which is called SG.

@COLDHEARTED AVIATOR

IMO i think there is only 1 SOF unit - 4 Vikas/Archer are rotating names of the same Unit. (I was old the ambiguity in ORBAT nomenclature is because of Opsec). Mavericks/SG is the unofficial name of the the unit. They have also been called 22SF from time to time (after Establishment 22 nomenclature for SFF)

The SG does indeed have 2 operational battalions and 1 Training Cell + Logistics + Intel Support.

No Para Gurkha (a recently formed unit) Is not SG.

But, Honestly I am still scratching my head about their operational Role.

The Para Gurkha (though that is colloquial nomenclature - dont think thats the exact name of the unit) is a Gurkha Unit that has been converted to Airborne and put under SFF Orbat. They (and this is entirely my speculation) will probably play the Same Role 75th Ranger Regiment plays for JSOC or the UKSF Regiment plays to the SAS/SBS I.e a Holding/QRT force to the main SOF element

I wouldnt be suprised that when the Special Operations Division gets formed the Para Gurkha's will get transfered under it

But this now begs the following questions.

1. Is the Para Gurkha and SFF have similar skills?. if so why a new unit. Gurkha's anyways serve in the SFF.

2. Is the PG better trained than the SFF and for now they are put under the SFF because its out of Army Orbat (MoD) and under CS?

-- If not then what is the task distribution between the SFF and Gurkha? will SFF continue to be a deniable Operational Expeditionary Unit? Or will the Gurkha's now join them?

3. With this we have 3 large Scale (battalion +) sized Airborne Formation

a. Parachute Regiment (Ex - SF)
b. SFF
c. Para Gurkha

Do we need to rationalize the forces above with specific taskings?

4. OR - is this Para Gurkha Nonsense another OpSec Game of playing with names to Keep Enemy Intelligence Agencies confused. (because FFS i sure as hell am)

Actually just realised that with the 50th ind para brigade we have a full fledged large scale airborne formation as well ( art / medic / engineers etc )

One thing they gets missed out is the PBG . They are also airborne and definitely special operations capable. Principal Pathfinders unit of our army. In kargil they did a fantastic job

MHA under Rajnath Singh has quickly procured a lot of arms - to the extent in some ways CAPFs are better equipped than the Army.

Having said that, using Renault Sherpas in the manner above, or like the way CISF has deployed it in Delhi airport is waster of money. The same job can be done by Aditya or Takshaks.

Ya it is as mysterious as SFF.

Only Jats,Sikhs and Rajputs are part of it except Officers who can be from any part of India.

But it is as mysterious as the SFF because i fail to understand the role of PBG and SPG to protect the President.

Maybe its not..but it looks like a show off decorative display unit.

PBG strength is anywhere between 200-250 men. Their duties to the president's office is ceremonial. They have a permanent base at siachen and (if I am not wrong ) have a unit on rotation with 15th RR. They have taken part in every Indian conflict including srilanka and primarily been parthfinders to major formations.

Their ceremonial duties we're inherited from the British. Sort of like the Marine escort the US president gets

SPG is the actual close protection unit.

That clears some doubts.

How many BTR 80 do they have?

I am sure this is one of the very very few units in the world that has Paratroopers who can run a tank.

P.S Tank is used as a loose term for APC.
