Rudra has many advantages over a traditional Armed MI-17 ..

1. Chin mounted 20mm cannon

Nobody can ever be fully satisfied with anything and that is more true in the case with Army with homemade goodies.

But, who are these journoes and how credible they themselves are? The journoes in many cases have proved to be sold to west more even than IA.

The Dhruv seems to have an issue with its tail rotor design, HAL should team up with Boeing to introduce the NOTAR system on the Dhruv, thus elimnating the Tail rotor itself and dramatically increasing reliability and lowering maintance cost and effort required. The NOTAR is a clever system and is far more reliable. It appears Boeing now retains the rights to the NOTAR system.

If there is any truth in it, Then there must be a general report presented at Army HQ just like any other system ..

As far as known, There are none so he better keep his inside knowledge to himself ..

Also this design is not suitable for combat helicopter as any hole to the tail section can cause the helicopter to make in circles ..

This configuration leads too has its own issues.
Tail rotor issue is one which most modern helicopters face, its only purpose is counter balance to main rotor.
Check for more futuristic designs of chopters..
We needs to stick with Dhruv and solve it of any issues but keep confidence in it as its indian product. it needs support.

Just read about this new light cheap platform on the market for reconnaissance and light attack, i think the IA and the BSF would do well to have a squadron or two of these babies patrolling hard to reach areas of the border from the air.I give you the AHRLAC.

Dhruv is a nice helicopter. It is a successful product by all accounts.

Weaponized Dhruv can make a large difference to fighting in Kashmir. This helicopter is readily recognizable so fratricide risk is very low. It can fly high and its maneuverability is excellent.

It is sufficient to carry one section (11 troops) in battle. What more do you want?

No machine is perfect. Helicopters are dangerous by their very nature. People should look up Osprey if they think only locally made machines suffer design or technical issues.

Kamov's system of contra-rotating coaxial rotors for its combat choppers is also great...

Latest LCH looks great, hope we see it quickly in IAF and IA.

This small aircraft may work in jungles but mountains are another matter. You are right that helicopter is a better bet.
