I mentioned commando operations only to highlight the versatility of the aircraft. The Chinook can be regularly used for a host of regular military operations, personnel and equipment transport, special ops, SAR while the Mi26 will have a much more limited role of almost purely heavy lift ops.
Read my previous post i am not asking abt heavy lifting but, What i asked is " what type of commando operations ? "

And Also why Chinook ? Why not CH-53 ? for required operations..

These are the aircrafts that the IA must have to on the top league...
Reconaissance and light attack:

For heavy duty attack:

What is exactly heavy duty attacks ?

What Apache gives compare to LCH..
Good question Kunal.

HAL-LCH is deliberately intended to be light for high-altitude operation.
Mil-24/35, Mil-28N and to a lesser extend AH-64D are great for lower altitudes and can afford to be heavy, both in armour as well as weapons load (or troop transport for Mil-24/35).

The biggest advantage of the Mi26T2, aside from its brute lifting capacity (well the fuel consumption is also proportional), is its ease of intigration into the IAF as it already operates older Mi26s.

Tandem rotor NOTAR does have some advantages over single rotor with tail rotor.

Both these helicopters better the other in different fields.

However, the downwash will be a problem when unloading like this:

Here is the downwash:

If an Mi14 needs additional inflatable flotation devices to float how about Mi26? ("Yes")

BTW, another amazing footage of Chinook water extraction ops capability...

This could be very useful in covertly inserting and extracting Spec Operatives deep inside Pakistan...
