Zuzana-2 seen in India may be trials year unknown....

Can Mounted Gun Systems (MGS) be developed in-house by Indian companies with help from DRDO ?

What's in favor now ?

We have a huge requirement of 814.

+ We already have Dhanush/ATAGS available now.

+ L&T is making 100 self-propelled (SP) tracked howitzers.

+ DRDO has earlier worked on BHIM SP.

IMHO, companies like L&T, TATA SED, Kalyani, Bharat Forge should work with DRDO and make it indigenously.

Its better than M777, In range, destruction as well as technologically ..

The only advantage M777 has its lesser weight, But both guns can be slung under helicopters.

Everything is same except that Dhanush has shorter barrel than ATAGS and perhaps same weight or lighter than ATAGS, Technologically both guns are superior to M777, M777 is only exceptional in weight.
SIR IS TOWED ARTILARY GUNS ARE BETTER THAN SELF PROPELLED GUNS IN TERMS OF FIREPOWER AND ACCURACY.

Kunal bhai M777 is 1/3 ATAGS and that makes it east to transport when compared to ATAGS....

Can Chinook47 transport ATAGS with crew and required ammo in one go.....

No, Chinook47 can't transport ATAGS.

BTW, how many Chinook47can India afford to buy ? They cost above $50 millions.

ATAGS will be much cheaper compared to M777.. may be at 1/4 price with longer Range.

Both Guns are from different categories.

ATAGS cant be used in the mountain ranges...Remember How we transported the big guns during Kargil...

We need M777 to use in the mountains

If we have a helo to lift ATAGS and ammo, then we can buy 3 squds of these helos and use them for multi purposes transport, troop carrier and for lifting big guns and forget M777.....

Which mountain ranges ?

ATAGS is lighter than Bofors which was used in Kargil.

They have same accuracy, Regardless its towed or self propelled ..

Chinook purchase is more related to SF use than carrying M777, MI-17V5 are the work horse for that purpose ..

Multiple MI-17V5 in one go can carry ATAGS in parts with ammunition and crew, ATAGS is lightest 52cal gun.
