Pakistan continues to play pivotal role in China's South Asia policy and India "must accept" this "enviable friendship" as Beijing cannot scale down its ties with Islamabad merely because of New Delhi's feelings, an official daily here said today.

The high-profile welcome received by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang with JF-17 fighter jets escorting his plane and President and Prime Minister of
Pakistan in attendance at the airport to receive him reflects all-weather ties, state-run Global Times said in its editorial.

"The relationship between India and China has grown broader while the Sino-Pakistan relations have gained depth," said the tabloid daily attached to the ruling Communist Party of China.

"Pakistan's importance to China has never been weakened despite its relatively turbulent political situation and slower economic development compared with China and India in recent years. Pakistan will play a pivotal role in China's South Asian strategy," it said, two days after Li concluded his maiden visit to India, his first foreign tour after assuming office in March.

Observing that "developing friendly cooperation with both India and Pakistan, a pair of neighbours with many disputes, meets the interests of China" and the region, the tabloid said China played a positive role in the continuous easing of the relationship between India and Pakistan.

"China has not played balancing strategy, using one country against the other," it said, denying widely held perception that Beijing secretly helped Islamabad to master nuclear technology.

"These suspicions are groundless but cannot easily be dispelled," it admitted.
"China will not exploit Pakistan as a political card to play. This should be considered part of the mutual understanding between China and India," it said.

"However, India must accept and adapt to the enviable friendship between China and Pakistan, which is not aimed at any third party and has no upper limit. China cannot scale down this relationship merely because of India's feelings," it said.

"The strategic value of the Sino-Pakistani relationship is also of regional significance. It is conducive to the stability of western China and can also assist, rather than harm, the Sino-Indian relationship on the whole," it said.

This is the third year in a row that a member of the Karnik family has placed in the top 10 of the National Geographic Bee.

Sathwik's brother, Karthik, took fifth place at the 2011 Bee and sixth place at the 2012 Bee. But it is Sathwik who realised the family dream.

Second-place winner and recipient of a USD 15,000 college scholarship was Illinois' Conrad Oberhaus, 13, seventh-grader at Daniel Wright Junior High School in Lincolnshire, a suburb of Chicago.

The six other finalists, who each won USD 500, were Tuvya Bergson-Michelson of California, Pranit Nanda of Colorado, Neha Middela of Michigan, Neelam Sandhu of New Hampshire, Harish Palani of Oregon and Asha Jain of Wisconsin.

National Geographic Bee is an annual geography contest sponsored by the National Geographic Society since 1989.

India has no habit of shining anyone's boot; nor any super power neither their alliance. Pakistan and Chinese are friend since 60 and not even a single squat has been given even when we know they provided nuclear weapons to Pakistan. Same was the case when Americans were letting Pakistan do anything and every thing without a check on top of it dolling money.

Pakistan should learn to mind its business than pitching its masters against India.

We have been dealing with China on one on one bases without any need of appreciating or denouncing their closeness with China. If China think their friendship with Pakistan has anything to do with India's bad perception about China then they should count their sins before asking us to bring them off the hook. We very well understand that China has military alliance with Pakistan with PA always on hot lines receiving orders from PLA.

Check this:

Chinese PM Li Keqiang effusive in praise of Pakistan, but not everyone buys it

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Premier Li Keqiang praised the Sino-Pakistan relationship to the hilt on Thursday, urging the "all-weather friends" to boost cooperation in business, trade, energy and infrastructure and build a long-vaunted economic corridor.

But not everyone is convinced China has Pakistan interests totally at heart.

Li arrived in the Pakistani capital on Wednesday on the second leg of his first official trip since taking office in March and after a visit to Pakistan and China's arch rival, India. He leaves for Switzerland and Germany later on Thursday.

"We want to achieve dynamic balance in our trade," Li said in an address to the Senate.

"We are ready to work with Pakistan to speed up the project of upgrading the Karakoram Highway, actively explore and develop the long-term plans of building a China-Pakistan economic corridor, expanding our shared interests."

The Karakoram Highway, built through towering mountains with China's help, links northern Pakistan with western China.

Li expressed hope for financial, maritime, agricultural, defence and energy cooperation, and praised Pakistan for its "tenacity and fortitude" and "creating one miracle after another".

"The China-Pakistan friendship has stood the test of hardship and is more precious than gold," he said.

But some observers have expressed doubts at the prospects of such an economic miracle.

"Pakistan's leaders love using laughably outrageous metaphors in describing the country's relationship with China, yet the truth is that this so-called alliance means almost nothing positive for the Pakistani economy," the Express Tribune newspaper said.

"The fact of the matter is that China will give Pakistan almost nothing, and this two-day trip is really only being made by the Chinese premier to avoid slapping Islamabad in the face completely, after having made his first trip abroad a three-day visit to India, in a key signal about the real shifts in Chinese foreign policy."

Li this week offered India a "handshake across the Himalayas" and said the two old rivals, the world's two most populous nations, could become a new engine for the global economy - if they could avoid friction.

Chinese trade with India is expected to reach $100 billion a year within two years. China's trade with Pakistan rose above a measly $12 billion for the first time last year.

"The sooner Pakistan wakes up from the 'China is our friend' delusion, the sooner we will stop giving control of the country's economic resources for almost nothing in return," the newspaper said.

We know the definition of this kind of friendship wherein
1. highway can lead from Gwader to Kashgar
2. railway can be laid from Gwader to Kashgar
3. oil pipeline too Gwader to China but
3. when it comes to power transmission lines it cannot be drawn from Kashgar to Karachi/ Gwader. But it has to be from India.

This precisely is the definition of friendship between the two which we should be definitely be envious of isn't it?

Look at the videos above , there are few more, all they talk about is India and using China against India. One of the constipated Pakistani in a show even quoted a Haddis said by prophet as foreign policy dictum told 1400 years ago that India will punish Pakistan and then China will punish India. Last time they were misleading their population with donkey-e-hind theory, suddenly now they have reasized that it is not possible now they are misinterpreting another religious verse to keep their hopes alive of destroying India.

China is pretty interested in having Pakistan get closer to India, since China would rather Pakistan be safe and prosperous rather than perpetually at risk of dismemberment. Sino-Pakistani trade alone cannot bring Pakistan and its expected 300 million citizens into prosperity. India has to join as well.

I think India accepts Paki-Sino "friendship". Now China will have to accept Indo-US-Vietnamese-Australian-Japanese "friendship" too. ;)
But where will India get its PAK FA and Aircraft Carriers from if it's no longer playing on the same team as Russia? ;)

Pakistan is the only country willing to tickle PRC's ego. Nobody else really goes overboard to please the leaders of the PRC.

The thread title is ridiculous. As if India "envies" Pak-PRC friendship. Utter hogwash, I must say. Let Pakistan and PRC keep on dancing Tango. India is glad it doesn't have to be like either party. PRC matters only because it is a powerful military and economic power, but PRC isn't the most liked kid in the block.

In next ten years the dependencies on foreign military will reduce to around ~ 20 % only...

We are building our own Aircraft Carriers & as far as PAK FA is concerned we are paying for its developement equally... so no worries...

Russia & India WAS , IS and WILL BE friends forever... India & Russia friendship is independent of India & USA friendship...

There is nothing to envy about.

Both nations are isolated from the warmth of friendship of the world and they need each other's shoulder.

China at least is essential for many because of commercial interest.

Russia is wary of China and China realise that.

That is why Xi Jumping's first foreign trip was to Russia.

The Russian Navy is no longer a world beater, though it is on the way to recovery. Therefore, it does not find it alarming that the US is the power that is predominant in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific.

It does not affect Russia that India is in some loose ties with the US in the Asia Pacific region since it serves Russia interest that China is kept occupied looking towards that side and not towards Asiatic Russia.

And India is not obstructing Russia interest in Europe or in the Southern belly of Russia!
