Maldivian President Muizzu's pro-China party secures 'super majority' in parliamentary polls

Money talks. China has got a lot of it.Muizzu will not antagonize moodiji beyond a point, he used green mentality for his benefit.
It's good that at least a significant number of Indians had enough pride to cancel their holidays there, but the total stats show that the total number of tourists increased by 10% - effectively replaced by other nations. Painful to admit but Maldives has successfully advertised itself as a "paradise" holiday on social media similar to Barbados/Bahamas etc.Fuck around and find out
After all this, Indian babus increased their aid donation... What message this sends? You can insult India and still they will provide you eggs and milk. Could babus not apply carrot AND stick? Even if just for some months give cold shoulder or at least reduce aid not increase it.Money talks. China has got a lot of it.
Geopolitical stance of Muizzu should no longer matter, Maldivians deserve collective punishment. They brought this upon themselves. Days of velvet gloves are over, iron fist must come out.
As DingDong said, China pays the bigger bribes and is expanding it's influence. Bribing Muizzu is peanuts for them. What can Indian foerign policy do to counter? Will they open a chink naval base as have Bangladesh and Burma?as far as India was concerned, the results indicated “ensured political stability” for another five years under the Muizzu government.
“India can work on bilateral strengths and weaknesses, one by one. Whatever major damage that Muizzu could inflict on India, rather on bilateral relations, he has already rushed through. It cannot get worse, prima facie, and can only hope to get better, slowly but surely,”
Maldives’ pro-China President Muizzu sweeps parliamentary polls, stumps rivals with ‘supermajority’

Muizzu is no fool to antagonize india beyond a point.
Time to turn Maldives into a shithole and no one wants to come there. Just cut off all food, fuel and water there. And if they try to allow China to build a base there India needs to step in and seize the territory before China can move in and prevent China from establishing any foothold thereIt's good that at least a significant number of Indians had enough pride to cancel their holidays there, but the total stats show that the total number of tourists increased by 10% - effectively replaced by other nations. Alternate paradise island holiday are Mauritius and Seychelles - neighbouring islands and have big Hindu populations.

Personally, I think it's not worth investing political capital in a country that will cease to exist in 50 years.Time to turn Maldives into a shithole and no one wants to come there.
