So how many Rafales are we going to fly? 126 or 36? We already have over 200 SU 30MKI. 200 Tejas are also to be ordered. Instead of ordering F 16, India should order full licence technology of MiG 29UPG. F 16s will only add maintenance problem, they will also be costlier. Or India simply should ask France to hand over complete Mirage 2000 technology. Upgraded Mirage 2000s will be more than a match. India does not need F 16.

Tough choice between Gripen and F16. LM never talked about ToT of AESA radar. If SAAB agrees for complete ToT of AESA tech then it is a much better option provided it's GaN based AESA radar is really that good. It can fire meteor which will also arm IAF Rafales. Besides technology shared by SAAB will help in AMCA project immensely.

HAL LCA Tejas MK2 is single engine plane. So why again purchase? Is not some parts of F 16's manufacture restricted to US by law? In any case SAAB Gripen is better at least Swedes are not going to create problems infyll ToT.

swedes dont have much TOT ..................

most of the components of grippen are non-swidish .


Americans are opportunists they can break rules Anytime .


India wants a modern Production line with advanced tools ...................both of them can Provide .

Let's assume we have 400 Tejas, and there is a crash or something. IAF will have to ground all Tejas.

If there are two types of planes of 200 hundred each, the other plane will still be available for operations.

Why we have to ground all Tejas? That is unrealistic. After so much testing if one plane crashes, it was the plane's fault not the entire Tejas fault. Pilots should eject if any danger. Does US ground their F 16s, F 15s because one plane crashed?

Yes it is a common procedure around the world.If a crash takes place or something is found wrong whole fleet is grounded followed by investigation,repairs and clearance.
