In that case, postponing statement for tomorrow makes no sense at all.
Yes it does. This is some serious sh!t. Those in power know exactly what’s happened by now and contingency plans are being spun up, his successor is being made ready etc.

it’s actually good to see them not making rash decisions or public comments until they’ve got their boat steady- other govts would have loose lips during every crisis by now.

This was a frontline V5 flown by regular line pilots- probably the most qualified in their HU but still just line pilots.

only thing that’s saved PM a similar fate thus far is probably because the communication SQN is monitored directly by IAF HQ and also because SPG have final say on all PM movements

if it’s true the weather was poor and they still performed this nonessential VIP flight heads need to roll, an unfathomable risk to put India’s most senior military leadership in
What do you mean by line pilots ?

Each sector (Northern, Southern etc.), one Sqn is assigned VVIP job. They have required modifications and the pilots who fly them are not rookies joined just out of flying school, but Sqn commanders that are certified to fly VVIP by doing a special course.

Other things, yes. I suspect leadership might have forced the pilots for taking risky flight, which happens all the time.

13 out of 14 onboard confirmed dead

There’s a video showing one person looking somewhat stable being pulled out. But it doesn’t look like the CDS

That pretty much confirms he’s gone imho
After looking at the crash site survivers are not possible ..

Looks a bit young to me but who knows?

the chances of him being the one and only survivor are absurdly small, not saying it’s not the case but wow. What an unimaginable thing. I don’t know how anyone survives this
Maybe any doctor in this forum can confirm but I've heard internal haemorrhaging from blunt force trauma is difficult to deal with.

Line pilots as in frontline/operational not specialists doing this full time. Yes they are specially selected from the local units and given extra training/screening

I’m not even claiming this is the pilots’ fault just pointing out the facts.

Frankly india has taken a very callous approach to VVIP security and chain of command resilience for too long. His official car is/was an unarmoured Suzuki sedan. In this instance it doesn’t seem like even SOPs were adhered to as far as met minima (speculation) and the operational pressure to get there took over. These things should not be negotiable and should be set in stone for all of the CCS/NCA

Throw some light here.. Considering that one cannot transport VVIP choppers wherever a VVIP goes in a C-17.. except for may be the prime Minister.. What's the idea.. like if we have 12 Augusta Westland choppers will they be stationed at different air bases across the country, one to cater to a particular zone..?
