The only problem is this incident has the potential to incur a huge financial cost to India in terms of energy and logistics cost (and btw most of the freight insurance companies are American who'll be salivating at the prospects)

I fail to understand why would they want to take beef with us ? That too by directly attacking our interests ? Not a wise thing to do honestly. Not only we are their ally, but we have long-standing relations & interests with them.
