There are no Greeks is Greece. Greeks died out 1,500 years ago. The people living in Greece now are Turks, and some Macedonians.

Modern "Greeks" have some links to Byzantium. But, Byzantium was part of Rome.

Turks naming their country after a European one is the biggest troll of all

This is true for a lot of nations. The Macedonians(like Alexander) of antiquity were Greeks but now they are mostly Slavs or Turks. Similarly the French are being replaced by the people from the Maghrebi regions. Also Australia is another fine example where native populations have been replaced by foreigners.

I do not understand too much about economics. However I do believe that if you have decided to take a loan you must have the means to pay it back also. Defaulting on loan makes one a thief/cheater. The debtor may be blamed for giving loans to trash people but it is the lender who should face the music. The Greeks have a tendency to work less, party hard and retire early. They tend to splurge their cash on yachts, cars etc. It is the Greek greed which is to be blamed. The Germans cannot be blamed for giving loans to the Greeks.

Indians on average work more hours than any country in Europe or US. Still India has a very high poverty. Economics is never about working high hours- its about high productivity. I dont think that productivity is going to improve with EU pull out or Increasing taxes as it will cause the economy to becomce inefficient and reduce productivity

And I think by lazy, he means that Greeks retire younger and demand far higher welfare than Germans. Is it not true?
average retirement age is 62 years , well within the EU average...

Defaulting is something that is considered by laws on personal basis, company level and Nation level.
Defaulting is the risk that the lender mustt consider

As for that the Greeks are lazy .. this is a German propaganda . Germany ows to Greece more then 200Billions euro from the WWII distractions catastrophy that happened during the German occupation. And that is not what Greece says but international bodies estimations..

Excuses are very easy to give. By your same logic, Europeans should repay all the wealth they have stolen to the Asian, american and African countries from which they stole from . I believe it will run into trillions in today's value. Not to forget how much loot Greece should be made accountable for during Alexander's conquests.

Seriously stop these silly excuses. Defaulters are thieves and creditors are greedy. IMO thievery worse than greed

a 2012 report >>>

Retirement In Germany May Rise To Age 69 While Greece Is At Age 58
In 2007 Germany raised its retirement age from 65 to 67 and the German government is now talking about increasing retirement to age 69 for full pension payments to start. On the other hand Greek workers now retire at age 58 with 80% of pension payments and the country’s workers are currently agitating for a lower retirement age.

A recent survey by Wikipedia lists both early and normal retirement ages of European countries and the United States.

Early retirement Normal retirement

Country Age Age

Austria 60 65

Belgium 60 65

Denmark none 65

France 62 68

Germany 65 67

Greece 58 65

Italy 57 60

Is it still the same now?
in contrast normal pension age in China -55/female, 60/male.

This has more to do with European Union treasury ... Right now it is all individuals and not single voice.

Greece is a small economy and a small population. this has to have a bigger discussion and debate on the future of the European Union and if it will develop into a single entity (i would say it is 30-60% there depending on how you look at it). The countries that want that can stay and those that do no want that can be like UK.

it was supposed to be one but it appears it is all on their own when face economic issues.
